My go to spot in Fishtown for quick friendly service. Best prices in the neighborhood. Cash only. Old school setup. Friendly. I hope they stay open for a long time 👍🏻

“Celebrate the incredible people who cross your path.” This morning, I had an experience at Sulimay's Barbershop that I hope not to forget for quite some time. As I opened the front door, moments after dodging a face-to-brick greeting with the front step 😂, I heard, “Welcome! How are you?” It was Joe, the owner. Right away, I knew this wasn’t just any barber shop. The father-son duo. The intimate conversations. Every detail spoke volumes. After a brief get-to-know-you, Joe called my name. It was my turn. My turn to receive a haircut in the comfy, black, leather-padded chair, a tradition spanning 35 years. As I sat down, we started talking about traveling around the world. The places we’ve traveled to. The places we would like to visit. For a moment, time stood still. The conversation felt effortless. You could tell that Joe was genuinely interested in others. As our time together came to an end, Joe removed his gloves and shook my hand. Perhaps, there is a lot of truth in, “People may not remember what you said or did, but they will remember how you made them feel.” The entire walk home, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for Joe and his work. Grateful for his hospitality. Grateful for the dedication to his craft. Grateful for reminding me that there is good in everything and everyone. Joe, our paths may or may never cross again, yet how you made me feel today will be remembered for a long time. For that, I thank you 🙏 Thank you for the 35 years of commitment to your craft and community. Thank you for your hospitality. Thank you, Joe, and to the countless others who enrich our daily lives 😊

I’ve been coming here for almost five years, and both Joe and Marc have been nothing but incredible. Online scheduling is easy, they can squeeze me in by phone in a pinch, and it’s the best priced cut around. On top of that, Joe has started cutting my 22mo son’s hair, which isn’t easy. The patience of a saint.

Shayla did a great job with my cut and blow dry! I was so impressed with how much more I loved my hair after this cut. It gave life and bounce back to my hair! Sometimes with cuts, it looks great after the salon but not when I do it myself. Not this time! I was so happy with how I was able to create a nice and manageable blowout at home.

I get my toddlers haircut here. I’ve seen Joe and Mark. They’re kind, affordable, and give a great haircut. I usually can get my son an appointment within a week and can book online. I also love the space and the beautiful planters outside.

I’m constantly moving throughout the US but would never get a haircut at another barbershop. Staff are super friendly and always have great conversations with them. Just note that you need an appointment and would definitely recommend booking several days before. Also it’s cash only.

Went in not feeling confident about my hair and Marc fixed that real quick. Great atmosphere for a barber shop. Witnessed a customer come in nearly an hour after his appointment and the barber was kind enough, and luckily available, to accommodate him. Great locally owned business.
