In Philly for work and needed a haircut and beard trim. I booked here as it had a decent score and availabilty on short notice. I booked online and was assigned to Kevin. I arrived early and was able to hop right into the chair. I stated what I was looking for and Kevin was immediately on the same page. Conversation was great and went beyond the usual "where are you from/what do you do." I ended up with some great food recommendations. As for the cut, all I can say is it's the best haircut I've had. I feel like $1 million. I'll be here several more weeks and will return again.

In town for a conference and walked over to city barber shop. I sat down in Kevin’s chair. The best cut and beard shave I have ever had. His attention to detail makes it worth the price. I am very picky about my hair and only go to old school barber shops. Will be coming back when I am in Philly again.

Jay the barber Took me right in the chair when I walked in for my appointment I booked online. Very nice guy. Shop is clean and has a cool old school feel to it . I’m losing my hair in spots up top and came prepared to shave my head , he blended it so nicely you can barley tell! Great fade and beard trim. This is the spot

Have had both Kevin and Jay Smooth and they’re both great people who gave great cuts. Also did bookings and it appears you can book on crazy short notice so maybe that’s the issue based on the no-show review or two but I booked with like 10 minutes notice and got in my first time. It’s expensive, but haircuts in the city are expensive unless you’re going to Chinatown or Supercuts or something. Old City also consistently has an extra cost on goods and services due to the work crowd and population so it shouldn’t be a shock (prices are posted online and in shop), but in that vein location has been great.

Was really excited about coming to this barbershop because it’s in my neighborhood and I kind of wanted to make it my neighborhood barbershop so I made an appointment at 10 AM right when they open but I decided to stop by five minutes before and I waited 30 minutes after they opened one thing about barbers is if you know call no show they hate you and they blacklist you from their barbershop but yet they can turn around and do it to you with no problem. I booked an appointment online they had my information they have my number but they didn’t have the consideration to call me when they knew that they were going to be late or not show up at all. Thank you city barber for being a big waste of my time and please don’t reach out to me about a complementary haircut or discount on a haircut considering today’s events I don’t think you have time for me or anyone else since I’m writing this review in front of your shop where the lights are off and nobody is still here... current time 10:40am

I had a fantastic experience with Kevin this past weekend. I have been searching for a good, consistent barber at an affordable price that didn't have any flairs and I think I found my spot. Kevin took a lot of pride in his craft by not only taking his time, but by going over sections of hair again if it is not fully to his satisfaction. He even had a large LED light to brighten up the shop so he could make sure I was getting the best cut possible. The location is very accessible and the prices are more than fair for the service you are getting. I will be back for my next cut soon.

Kevin has been my barber of choice for close to ten years. He has consistently been the epitome of exceptional customer service; always committed to providing a quality experience. He does his level best to accommodate my schedule and is always ready and prepared when I walk through the door. I have absolutely have no issue paying a premium for the level of service he provides. Strongly recommend Kevin to any man that appreciates making personal grooming a priority.

I've been a customer of Kevin Horne, a stylist at City Barber since 1996. Through those years, Kevin hasn't "missed a beat" in keeping with the changes in my style, and my hair. He's a professional! And he's a gentleman! If any of you reading this review are interested in a first class styling, I recommend Kevin. He's a barber, but more importantly, he gives his customers exactly what they need: attention to detail! I recommend making an appointment. And don't forget to tell Kevin that, Barry sent you!

City Barber is the spot. I have been a frequent customer for over 9 months now and have never left with a cut I didn't like. Great location right across from jewelers row. Make sure to request Jay Smooth for your services, great conversation and will hook you up with the best fade in the city.

Consistently great work and well priced. Haven't gotten a bad cut here in 4 visits with 3 different barbers. Strongly recommend Jay, but they're all solid in my opinion. They listen to what I'm looking for and get it right every time. I've been to 5 or 6 other shops in the city and this is the only one I'm confident will get it right. No nonsense, just a good cut.
