Appointment only. Two floors with small staircase to 2nd Floor. Really nice staff, really happy with the service and the quality.

I went in yesterday for a cut because I had allowed my hair to grow out for the first time in 3 years (I'm in the military and typically need it short). I was explicit in saying I wanted my hair long, and yet Sid was totally disrespectful of this. He used clippers and when asked why he had taken so much off said he "heard military" and just thought that was what I wanted. How about you just listen to what I ask for next time? He also ran scissors along my scalp and thinned my naturally thick hair, which I never asked for and have never had a barber do. Lastly, he ran his clippers down my collar and shaved my back hair into a ridiculous pattern without asking. The owner John was polite and gave me my money back when I called to complain, but I can say with certainty I WILL NOT be coming back.

John's barber shop has always been my go to spot for a quality cut since I first stopped in about 5 years ago now, but most recently I had an experience with the store that propelled me to finally write a review. I just got married Saturday, January 16th, and the day of, I had needed to get myself and some of my groomsmen a haircut. I arranged with a barber at the location to come in early the day of to get clean up's for 10$ a head, but unfortunately the day of, the barber had an unforeseen family emergency, making him unable to work. I found out that morning when I called at 9 A.M. Sid, a fellow barber, was up to the challenge and on short notice. He had us in and out in just an hour and a half for 6 haircuts. The groomsmen, my father and myself looked clean and it was at a good price. There really isn't a barber I wouldn't recommend at this location, so I would say if you're looking for a great barbershop to replace your current, don't look any further, just call ahead and make an appointment here.

If you're looking for a great barber and hair stylist, I highly recommend GARY at John's Barber Shop in Newtown. I've been going to Gary for many years and I'm very happy with his work. He has lots of experience, is very professional, and a great person overall!

Gary is a true professional with a lot of class. He does not only give exceptional hair cuts every time you go, but is great guy to talk to. High regards in every category, and highly recommended.

Sid was exceptional. When I go to a barber shop I like to go in, get cut and get out. I didn’t give him much direction but he did a thorough job very efficiently. Even when my hair grew out weeks later it grew completely even and still managed to look great. That was definitely not the case before. Sid is my new go to barber!

Sid gave me an amazing haircut. I was reluctant to try a new barber as I like my hair cut a particular way but I was so happy Sid was available the day I came in. He was very attentive to the look I was going for, checked in with me throughout the haircut to make sure we were on the same page, and made me feel very relaxed throughout the process. I will definitely be coming back!

I went to John's for the first time today. Nothing but good to say about the service from John and my haircut. Ample parking and very satisfied with the cut. Great conversation and nice atmosphere. It is nice to go to a barbershop that reminds of the way the experience used to be. I am definitely going to be a regular. Highly recommend John's. You will not be sorry.

All of the barbers seem very good and I've used 3 at this point. I do consider appointments a must have, because the one area lacking is as a walk-in. No one greats you often and tracking who is next or what the wait time will be are issues. When doing walk-ins they should really assign someone to give out numbers and an ETA. Fix this and the place would be perfect.

I came here off a recommendation and was not disappointed. Although it was super busy I only had about a 15-20 min wait. My barber, Luke was a great, friendly guy. He was really patient with me and took his time despite it being so busy. If I had one complaint it would be about one of the barbers who was not friendly to the customers, insisted that it was not his job to follow the list of names and that the customer were responsible for knowing when their turn was. He is the sole reason i would give this place a lesser review. However, Luke was such a great guy and it was such a great atmosphere that this place gets a 5 and I will definitely return whenever I am back in the area.
