I had the pleasure of getting my hair cut by Joe today, and it was easily one of the most professional experiences I’ve had. Joe is clearly an expert at his craft. The shop itself is spotless, and the hospitality from the entire team is top-notch. I’ll definitely be a regular from now on!

I’ve been going here for a couple of years and it’s amazing. The barbers especially Danny/Jani/ Gary know how to cut hair without a problem. Always end up with great results no matter how many different styles I’ve gotten. The place is clean and maintained well and the price is worth it.

I went in and asked him to cut less than half an inch off the top—no fade, nothing complicated, just scissors. And this is what I ended up with. The staff is nice, but the haircut is horrible. I would only recommend going to Johnny if you have curly hair—he’s the best. They did call me back and offered to fix the haircut, but this is honestly not fixable. Next time, I would prefer the barber to be upfront and tell me if he doesn’t know how to cut my type of hair, or at least give me a heads-up that he doesn’t specialize in it. He told me I should have come with my hair detangled already, and that he had another client with the same hair type who called the next day to complain about his haircut. So clearly this isn’t the first time. I feel like a professional barber should know his capabilities and not just try something for the first time without warning the client.

Been getting my haircut in Brooklyn for over 20 years. Finally made the switch to retro barbershop and could not have been more happy! Highly recommend Retro and highly recommend Joe! He did a phenomenal job!

Joe is hands down the best barber I’ve ever been to. Every single time I sit in his chair, I know I’m leaving looking sharp. His attention to detail is crazy, the fades are always clean, and he really takes his time to make sure everything is perfect. Super professional, great vibes, and he actually listens to what you want. If you’re looking for someone you can trust with your haircut, Joe is the guy. Highly recommend 💯

I love coming to this place! Especially with the worker Joe! He’s such a sweet soul and knows how to cut curly hair because of his background he has a huge understanding on how to cut it. All of them do but Joe especially is the best at it and love going there to get it there. If you have a curly hair I would recommend him much more! Just go in and ask for him!

Can’t even go half star if I could but I wish I did. I went in very simple with example pictures and told the barber, just a bit on the front so it’s above my eyebrows because the front shrinks a bit, trim the crown a little, and follow what the pictures I showed him looked like. Instead he didn’t do any of such, blow dried and flipped my hair instead and told me that the cut didn’t fit the face shape so this is better instead. It’s not what I asked for. And then I was charged $46 for the messed up haircut. It was not worth the wait it was to be seen and the near $50 price tag. I am never returning to the establishment and you should too. Mind you, I had a more than full head of hair and similar hairstyle to the references prior to coming in. Second time there, never again.
