I’ve been going to Against Da Grain for over 20 years, and there’s a reason I’ve never gone anywhere else. This barbershop is more than just a place to get a cut—it’s family. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with handshakes, respect, and genuine kindness. The atmosphere is always positive, family-oriented, and you’re guaranteed to get a good laugh every time you’re there. The barbers truly care about their craft and their customers. Sean, Saled, Terry, Swan, and Dan and everyone I didnt mention are all excellent barbers, each one consistently delivers top-tier work and makes you feel right at home. If you’re looking for quality cuts, great people, and a barbershop that treats you like family, Against Da Grain is the place. Highly recommended.

Swan at **Against the Grain Barbershop** was amazing with my 13-year-old son, who has special needs. He was patient, gentle, and spoke in a calm, reassuring way that helped my son feel relaxed and comfortable during his haircut. Establishment is well ran, prices are fair. All barbers are good at their craft, and has a kid friendly evnviroment. I’ve been coming to ADG for 5 years.

The new spot at 56 Beach St. is a major upgrade from the old shop. It’s so new and clean with a welcoming atmosphere and amazing art on the wall. All the barbers working here and very experienced and nice to all customers, I’ve been going to my guy Danny for years and he always gives me the best cuts.

Prices here and most Barber shops are way too high especially when the barbers are usually booked and others don't bother like they make money sitting doing nothing while leaving you waiting for a spot. Ewing is the man! He has openings all the time or knows how to calculate fitting a cut in right quick in-between appointments. Good location near public transportation and parking you can find in the area.

$35. For a 14 year old?!!! I was taken by surprise by the skill of Swan. My son wanted a low cut for the first time in 4 years. We went to Google and they recommended this shop for the reviews and distance. Very glad I came. I usually drive to Jersey they charge 25.
