This is a new place for me. I don’t live in the area but found it while catsitting nearby. I’ve been three times, and had two barbers. I’m very satisfied with the easy buzz cut they give me because they take the time to make it a worthwhile experience. True attention to detail and customer service. It’s now worth the trip just for a haircut!

The barber will “kindly” remind you if you don’t leave a tip. Bad service and Cash only.

EDITED: thanks for the response. Increased to 4 stars. Overall we are pleased now. The cut was REALLY GOOD and is growing out well. It just wasn’t exactly what we expected. If you are male and have a super short cut, little hair, or need to shave a beard, this place is perfect for you. Barber was very professional, and took much time to be precise and symmetrical. Those are very positive things, and this place is perfect for many people. Sadly, the negative outweighed the positive for us, in this case. The barber did not follow a clear direction. I don’t think it was the language difference. We clearly stated he should keep my son’s hair long (it was basically a llama cut), but cleaner, and he acknowledged it. But my son came out looking like a completely different person and missing the bulk of his hair. His bangs and the mop totally disappeared. It will take many months to grow out. Be careful, and consider elsewhere if you have a fashionable longer curly cut, at least not for us. Also, no cards accepted. And price was different from posted. All those things are leading to a 2 star rating. As I said, there are many positives, but I did want to highlight this experience. Sorry, guys.

Owner's response

Hi Amanda,

Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate your kind words about our barber’s professionalism and precision.

We’re truly sorry the haircut didn’t turn out as you expected. We always aim to follow the client’s direction closely, and we’ll be sure to review this with our team to avoid similar situations in the future.

As for pricing, our list shows that scissor cuts are $40, compared to $35 for standard cuts. We do our best to be clear and upfront. We currently only accept cash to avoid high processing fees, which are especially tough on small businesses these days, but we’re exploring options to offer more convenience soon.

If you’d be open to giving us another shot, our manager Ruben (first chair) would be happy to work with you to make sure your vision is understood and delivered more accurately.

Thanks again, we take your feedback seriously and always aim to improve.

Best,
Manager Ruben

I’ve been coming to these guys for about 8 years starting before they moved down the street to this location. They’re always quick and give a good standard cut. Price seems pretty similar to other barbershops in the area and cheaper than Aveda etc. They seem to be just as talkative as you want which at least I like. Will continue to visit in the future.

I went in for a cut and shave. During the shave, the barber used the foil shaver so aggressively that he put a deep cut in my neck. It bled. He applied a drop of alcohol but didn’t apologize. After getting home, I noticed that he also nicked my ear. In years of haircuts at different barbers, I’ve never had an experience this bad.

I've been bringing my teenaged son to this barber shop for the past two years. The staff is hard-working, honest, and skilled. They are able to accommodate very specific requests, and have a number of loyal customers. Highly recommended.

Just went there to get a trim, and it was the best haircut I’ve ever received for the price ($35) and time it took (I was in and out in 20 minutes with no appointment). The man was a machine with 30 years of experience under his belt, and was quick and efficient with his scissor. Highly recommended. Thanks again Alex! Until next time.

Best in the Upper West! Coming here over a year now. I had tried a few others in the area first but didn't compare. It's a very relaxed environment with no frills just solid haircuts! Rubin is my go to. Fantastic old school barber and a very nice man but have had cuts from everyone there, always happy.

I stopped in for a haircut on my lunch break. The wait was less than 10 minutes while they finished up with another customer. Marina took her time to understand exactly what I was looking for and then she delivered it perfectly! My haircut was only $35 (this is super cheap for a lady's haircut) and I'm thrilled with how it looks. I will definitely be going back.

Ruben is one of the best barbers I’ve ever been to. He is professional, friendly, attentive, and does exactly what you ask. The haircuts are great, have never felt rushed and he makes sure every detail is what you wanted. This is now my go-to barbershop. I could not recommend this shop more.
