Rudy is hands-down the best barber I have ever come across. When I first started coming to him over a decade ago, he quickly figured out how to deal with an unusual feature of my hair, and has been perfect on it ever since. I spend most of my time in Washington, DC these days, and I still make a point of getting my haircut at Chelsea Gardens with Rudy, when I visit New York City. Simply put: he's THAT GOOD.

RUDY IS THE MAN🇷🇺💈💪🏻‼️♥️‼️♥️‼️ Since 1959 this barbershop has been THE GO-TO barber for Chelsea a neighborhood that has seen a transformation every decade since. In 2026, the most expensive rents in Manhattan yet CGBS continues to deliver the BEST HAIRCUT FOR THE LEAST COST 30 BUCKS while mediocre Johnny come lately shops want $50+ for nothing even close. THEY DONT CALL US RUDY’s BEAUTIES FOR NUTHIN’- this barber is a gem and you gotta check it if you want the best worth $100+ to be your handsomest self, for rock bottom price bc the man don’t need the money he wants to share his magic and that’s the skill he has YES ABSOLUTELY 100pct he’s a GOD of haircutting but also the love he gives and receives🔥🙌🏻💈❤️‼️

I’ve gotten one haircut each from three barbers here. Rudy himself is a fantastic barber. I wouldn’t consider the other two barbers professional or adequate in the slightest. Included pictures to give an idea, but had to fix my sideburns once I got home, uneven layering throughout top, sides, and back, etc. Objectively speaking I think it looks worse than it did before I went, just less “overgrown”. Definitely make sure you book with Rudy !!

Rudy is the absolute best! I’ve been a regular customer at this barbershop for almost a decade now and have nothing but positive things to say about Rudy and the rest of the staff as well. They are always accommodating willing to squeeze you in and they give incredible haircuts. I strongly recommend trying them out. You won’t regret it!

I have been coming here since I moved to NYC 12 years ago. I have had a cut with each of the guys here at some point and have never had a bad experience. If I did not like a cut, which is rare, they would fix it to my liking. Their attention to detail and customer service is unlike any other and you can attribute that to why they have been in business so long. One of the last few family owned barbers around and they make you feel right at home.

This is my go-to for many years now. Not even my neighborhood but I come over from UES to get my monthly cut. Rudy is the main dude and he has been “increasing the beauty” as he jokes to me the second the cut is in the books! I’ve come here for my pre-weddings/family events/important client meet ups when I know I have to look and feel my best. I always feel my best with a fresh cut, so I always leave happy.

I’ve been going to Rudy at Chelsea Gardens Barbershop for over 12 years, and I can’t recommend him enough. He’s not only a fantastic barber who always does an amazing job, but also someone I’ve built a real connection with over the years. Rudy has always accommodated me and made sure I walked out looking and feeling my best. This shop is a true classic, the kind of place you want to support and keep around. We visited NYC from Argentina, and my son Ian loved his haircut! By chance, we ended up at the best barbershop in Manhattan! And we loved as well his team of extremely friendly professionals!

I’ve been going here and seeing Rudy for 7 years. Needless to say, he’s my guy! He always gives excellent cuts and is very accommodating to make sure you look just the ways you want. He is well aware of current style trends, and run his business with a relaxed friendly neighborhood feel. Walks are welcome, but I usually book half day in advance and a full day if want a cut on a Friday/Saturday evening. Over the years he has made upgrades to the shop and it’s nice to see. Takes credit cards and cash.
