I showed up as a walk-in about 310pm followed by another customer. The barber was seated and eating a meal. He acknowledged me and said it would a minute until he finished. The customer who followed me in promptly left. I decided to stay because of the majority of positive reviews but I could see how irritating it might be if you are open for business but telling customers to wait while a meal is done. It was less than 5mins before he called me to a chair. The level of detail and precision was unexpected. I asked only for a haircut but watching how he approached that I added a shaping to my goatee, again very precise and clean. I could have given 4 stars based on my initial impression however the finished "product" allowed me to overlook it and focus on what I was there for, afterall, I was on vacation and not really in a hurry.

Should have listened to the other reviews that warned about this, but this was possibly the worst haircut I’ve ever gotten. Albert is not qualified to be a barber and will not listen to requests - and if he doesn’t agree with what you ask, he will haphazardly start buzzing with his machine. And on top of that is completely unprofessional - expected a tip after ruining the haircut and starting yelling at me to get out after. Avoid at all costs

Terrific gentleman’s cut with most affordable price in Manhattan. I've been coming here for more than 2 years, and every time I leave, I'm practically doubled over with laughter. Travel over 30 minutes to get a haircut as there is no better spot in the city.

As someone mentioned, they only do one kind of haircut. I got some really good haircuts for a couple of years but it all went sideways today when I made my first request since I started going there: please don't cut much off, because it's really cold right now (18 degrees today). He then proceeded to take 6 inches off the top!! And almost nothing from the sides and back. I am not kidding. That's over a year's worth of growth. The haircut lasted about 9 minutes and he never even used the clipper to clean up the sideburns or the back??!! I paid $35 for nothing. At least I made it to work on time...

Simply the BEST barber shop in the area. I had walked by for years but never got haircut there till a couple months ago when they reopened. The gentleman named Albert (?) takes care of my haircut each and every time nicely and efficiently. The price is also very reasonable. 👍👍👍

One of the cheapest Barbers in NYC, but they don't compromise on the quality of the cut! Walked in with no appointment in the morning on a Tuesday and was sitting in a chair within 10 minutes. I had a photo of my haircut and the barber instantly knew what to do, but asked specifically about hair length to double check. We started with a larger setting, but ultimately made it shorter. No sweat off the barber's back, he was super cool and didn't rush me. The haircut came out amazing and I will be coming back here for sure!

I'm a bit torn about 9th Ave Barber Shop. I was recommended to come, and got a pretty good haircut in the end. My hair is simple enough. However, when I sat down and began explaining what I wanted to the barber, he mostly ignored what I said and summarized what he thought I wanted in very simple terms. As I said, the end result was fine (it's hard to mess up my hair) but I felt somewhat unheard and dismissed. Price was reasonable. Cash only.

One of best cuts I have had in a long time. The lady was phenomenal. Understood my style and used the thinning scissors then finished it off with regular scissors . Brilliant way to cut hair like mine. Hardly had to tell her anything. Super nice vine. Great service. Will go back.

I've been a customer of Albert's for years. Best hair cut every time. No rushing, and now that he has his own barbershop, he's happier and better than ever. I've seen him do all kinds of cuts, mine is a simple executive cut which you think you can get anywhere but it looks better and lasts longer when he does it for me.

This guy is the greatest. Really. I'm a woman with a short cut who decides every now and then to walk into a traditional barber shop and see what happens. The owner understands customer service so, so well; he's friendly, inviting, and was so kind as to give me a minute to run upstairs and get the cash that I mistakenly thought I already had on me. My word. Beyond the great cut, he really makes the stop worth it. Great business and great service.
