Great barbershop in Astoria. There are 2 levels so you should never have trouble getting a chair. Everyone is always nice and respectful. I’ve been going to Anik for 2 years now. He takes his time and makes sure you have the exact style you want.

I really want to like this place but they keep disappointing me. If they’re going to charge $50 for a haircut you’d think they’d want to provide a top tier experience but that hasn’t been the case for me. During my last visit, I showed up to appointment on time ended up waiting 30+ mins because the barbers were chatting with each other completely ignoring me. I was the only person waiting for my turn. After about 30 mins they realized that I was there about 5 feet away from them in a chair waiting for my appointment. Mind you I’m 6’2 and I was the only customer waiting and I had an appointment. Truly crazy that they didn’t see me, or that the person working the desk didn’t notify them that I checked in. When they finally noticed me, half of the barbers had left the shop and I got this guy who clearly didn’t want to be there anymore. Tried to do a rush job on my hair. Tried to finish multiple times with unblended fade, uneven hair, patches of hair sticking out in the wrong places. Guy had been working there for years but all of a sudden didn’t know how to do a basic fade and blend. I get that people want to go home, but if you forgot your customer in the waiting area you’d think that they’d want to make up for it with their quality of service. Overall bad experience, maybe management should prioritize customer service over vibes and the boys club schtick.

Tonsorial has been my go-to barbershop for the past year. When it’s good, it’s great, especially if you have an established relationship with a barber who knows your preferences. I usually see Justin, who’s knowledgeable and experienced, and I’ve always had great results with him. Recently, I stopped in for a quick (admittedly impulsive) touch-up, just to clean up in front of the ears and at the base of my neck. Justin wasn’t available, and I assumed another barber could handle something that simple. To echo other reviews, I wasn’t listened to, they didn’t listen, when I clearly described what I wanted. Despite clearly stating I only wanted a cleanup in those two areas, the barber gave me a full cut around the sides. While he did avoid cutting the top as requested, the result was unbalanced and discouraging. Ironically, the one thing I asked to be addressed, the hair in front of my ears, was left uneven. Tonsorial still has talented barbers, and if you build a relationship with someone like Justin, it can be worth the premium. But walk-ins are risky. There’s a mix of experience levels on staff, and without knowing who you’re getting, the quality can vary a lot.

LIC Tonsorial is the absolute best of the best. Been getting my hair cut here for about 7 years, moved out of state during that time, and this is still the only place I'll ever go to get a cut. Barbers know and care about their clients and treat everyone like family. Justin is my guy but everyone there does phenomenal work. Can't say enough good things about this place.

I came in for a hot towel shave and a scissor haircut. I have had a Chevron style mustache growing out for the past two years. My scruff had been growing out for a few days so I figured I'd get it shaved while I was getting my hair cut. The barber cut my mustache into a completely different style with the electric trimmer, almost a pencil mustache. I'm not sure if he didn't realize the initial shape because he included my beard scruff as apart of the new mustache style. The wet shave began well with a traditional hot towel treatment, but then he went over everything with a foil electric razor afterwards, something I’ve never seen done after a wet shave. The shave itself was very good, but it was odd to me to irritate the skin with an foil razer after all that effort. The scissor cut came out looking good, though he cut and styled it like a pompadour which wasn't what I asked for at all. I know it probably seems silly to most people, but when your face looks a certain way for a long time, it's really upsetting to have that changed completely. The barber was a genuinely nice guy and I don't like leaving bad reviews, but this visit really missed the mark in terms of communication.

I love this place. Been going here for a few years now and see the same 2 Barbers. This place is super clean, designed like an old-fashioned Barber shop - vintage style, that I am old enough to remember. All the Barbers are always well dressed, polite, friendly, and give 5-star customer service. I wouldn't travel by train 90 minutes to get there if they weren't the BEST! I live in Brooklyn and there are dozens of Barbershops there, but not one is like LIC Tonsorial Barber Shop and Shaving Parlor.

This place is amazing , I’ve been going here for almost 3 years now and it keeps getting and better. They added a whole bar and a lounge for customers to wait while enjoying a nice chill atmosphere . Prices definitely reflect their hospitality at its highest , not to mention the inclusivity they have is beyond ! I love it .

I’ve been taking my son to Jose for haircuts for many years, and he is hands down the best barber we’ve ever had! He’s precise, professional, and always takes the time to make sure my son’s cut is perfect. He listens to what we want and consistently delivers top-notch results. The entire staff is fantastic—friendly, welcoming, and skilled. The shop has a great atmosphere, and you can tell they take pride in their work. If you’re looking for a talented barber and a great experience, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!
