Don’t come here if you’re white or Hispanic. He only knows how to cut black peoples hair. Don’t bring your kids either. He picked up my kid from the arms instead of under the arms and hurt him!! Rushed job. Not completely clean cut. I also said trim, but he carelessly cut like an inch and a half off. I showed him a photo of what I wanted but he was still argumentative said that was not what I asked for. He left some missed spots. Messed up the forehead. Left it too short and uneven. I said blend, not cut it unevenly. I said use razor scissors for blending if you have them, and he used an actual electric razor instead.

This man is a fantastic Barber and even better, he's an incredible human being. He cares about his clients and is always professional and kind. My son could not be happier with his haircuts and I love knowing that when my young man goes for haircut he's also getting someone to look up to, a pep talk and a mentor! Thanks, Troy!

Owner does not read any appointment notes and apparently doesn't look at HIS own online scheduling system. Been trying to find a place to cut my kids hair (biracial) so they have weird hair, figured an experienced black barber would be able to handle something like this. We set up an appointment online. Left notes stating this would be for kids, age 3 and 1, even noted hair issues. We confirmed the appointment via text and even got a reminder the day before. My wife took the boys to the appointment, the guy looks at them like he has no idea he had a 10:10am appointment, looks at the kids and rudely says he doesn't do kids and tells them to leave. We literally decided on this place because they SHOW KIDS on their website. We clearly left notes, confirmed everything on our end, but apparently this doesn't mean anything when you don't even look at your own booking system. If he would have read the notes and then called to say he didn't do kids hair that would have been great. But no, I wrestled my kids and rushed to get them ready only to waste my time with someone who obviously doesn't care about customers. I guess some people have so much money they can waste it on systems they don't use and don't like paying customers.

Brought my son in to get a haircut and we had a wonderful experience!! Troy was very friendly, quick and skillful!! My son is never excited to get his haircut but all he can talk about is how much he loves his hair after his haircut!! Tap’s Barbershop definitely has a repeat customer with us!!

This barber shop is run by an absolute professional man, who knows the details of customer service (that has been lost in society) and hard work. His skills and art form is top notch. you’ll get more than a haircut. You would truly, walk out of his shop feeling you’ve known him for years. #Blackowned

Taps is the BEST barber in the twin cities. He has been cutting my hair for 30 plus years. and also my sons. His new shop in south town is really nice and clean. NO long waiting lines and a private session to get you right!! Go see taps!

Troy is very professional and very quick with his haircuts. He cares about this customers time, if I have to stick to a schedule for work Troy is timely and fast. Always leaving satisfied and looking Sharp. Much appreciation to my Barber Troy!!!

Tap's Barbershop is more than a haircut. It is a valued experience. He gives me a fresh cut every two weeks. He has been my barber for over 7.5 years. We talk sports, movies, finances, kids, relationships and solve the world's problems. Troy Powell has become more than a barber. I call him one of my best friends. He has helped me when I really needed it.. Wherever he takes his shop in Minnesota, I will be there. I'm from out of town and needed a haircut. They were the only ones open. Very friendly staff. Did a great job with my hair and beard. Very cozy place. Love that they have pool table in there. Definitely check these guys out!

I just moved to Minnesota, and I was looking for someone to cut my sons hair. It could be a little challenging because my son has a disability. I found Taps Barbershop and Troy is great. He’s very professional, kind, and understanding. I really appreciate the service and patience Troy showed with my son. His haircut was very nice and he received a lot of compliments.
