Jay is great. He gave me the best haircut I've ever had here in Evanston. Highly recommend!

Place is excellent. Man’s a professional. Just show up on time like he tells you to. Cash only.

Extremely arrogant and rude! I had called in the morning and booked the appointment, however when I visited the place he told me that there was no booking by my name. Then he dismissed me in a manner as if I am dying to get the haircut from him. Extremely non-professional behavior. I would not recommend. Cheap means not necessarily good!

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Jay’s barber. I arrived just five minutes late for my appointment, only to find out it had been cancelled. Jay had explicitly told me that he waits five minutes before cancelling appointments, but apparently, that’s not the case. When I tried to discuss the situation with him, he was incredibly rude and dismissive. His unprofessional attitude and lack of customer care are unacceptable. I do not trust this guy and would strongly advise others to avoid this barber shop. There are plenty of other places that value their customers and keep their word. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.

I had some time in between appointments and I happened to be in Evanston. This was the best haircut I’ve had in years, Jay clearly knows what he is doing. The haircut took 14 minutes. This is the quickest haircut I’ve ever had and extremely impressive for a skin fade on the sides with longer on top. I will come out of my way to get my haircut here regularly.

The man that was in his phone chilling is rude. I called 20 mins before coming in for haircut to get told oh you need an appointment. He said I can make it now if I wanted but I’d rather been told on the phone. He claims I just hung up on him but when I said I’d be in soon after asking if they were opened and he said yes he said see you soon. How did I hang up so fast if I heard that statement? It’s cool he can play on his phone all he wants. I was only going since my regular barber was closed but I’d make sure never to recommend this place to anyone.

First time I went here I feared for how my haircut would turn out. Very few words spoken, I show my picture, I get my haircut. It’s $22, it takes 10 minutes, it looks great. I’ve been back 3 times. I usually call ahead or drop in to book a time later in the day (you should also let him know at that point if you need a beard trim/cleanup or you’ll be outta luck mentioning it when you get in the chair) but supposedly walk ins can be ok if he’s not super busy. Genuinely one of the top three haircuts of my life.

This place has been here since the 70s, and the current barber has been cutting hair here for about six years he said. The price is still reasonable at $22, but keep in mind that it's cash only. Walk ins are welcome, but you can also call and make an appointment, which is probably the better way. Last but not least, the actual hair cut was very good!!! He asked me how I wanted it done, and I could tell he wasn't taking anything I said for granted, but really wanted to provide the haircut I wanted. Very nice place.

Good barbers and super friendly. Walk-ins are fine but better to make an appointment as they are usually always busy. This would be a 4 star joint if not for the cash-only high price of a haircut. Take a $20 bill when you go because that's what it will cost (too much, IMO, for a 10min haircut).
