Sam's Place is excellent. Old hair cut quality unmatched by branded salons and hair cutters. Head barber greets each and every customer with an, I-love-my-job vibe. Men, woman -- black, white, biracial walked right in while I looked over decades of nostalgia on the walls and shelves. Prices start at $20. You will *want* to leave a tip. Excellent service and quality. GO!

I finally got around to getting rid of my "pandemic beard" and the head of hair that accompanied it. The very capable gentleman barber did a good job of making me look as presentable as I did two years prior to my visit. I would recommend this establishment to anyone in the area who inquired about a good barber shop.

Listen, I'm not from up here. Which means it took me a while to find a new home. And I could argue that, on my journey, I've found better quality options. But those option just weren't reliable and didn't feel like home. On Church Street, I feel like I'm from Evanston. And I get a great cut and I get to keep-up on what's going on and I get that all at a price that is just a great value.

Respectful and friendly atmosphere and service. I enjoy taking my two boys here. There's no rude speech, behavior or music. In other words this shop is kid friendly

I’ve been looking for a black owned barbershop near me and came across this fine establishment. I wasn’t disappointed, one of the best haircuts I’ve ever gotten. I’m most definitely coming back 😊

One of the young barbers met me on the street corner a block away and sold me on his skills, I needed a haircut so it worked out! He was very respectful and listened to what I wanted politely and then delivered a great job. Very nice owner shook my hand when I got there as well, very warm welcome and job well done.

Excellent service, extremely friendly, comparable price ($16) for finely detailed cut and shave around the edges. Traditional barber shop style. Do recommend and would definitely return. Probably the best haircut I've ever gotten.
