I came here for a beard trim and shave and was pleasantly surprised. Sam, the owner, has been there since the 1970s and you can tell the love and care he has for his business and his customers. Leo trimmed my beard and gave me a razor shave. He's got a steadier hand than guys half his age! This is place is one of a kind!

Classic Chicago barber shop. If you work in the loop this is the only place to get a cut. Sam is a true professional.

Just moved from Miami and was honestly worried about finding a great barber — Sam completely exceeded my expectations. This is a true classic barbershop with clean, precise cuts and real attention to detail. The cut was top-tier, the service was professional, and the price was more than fair for the quality you get. You can tell Sam takes pride in his work and knows exactly what he’s doing. If you’re looking for an amazing haircut at an amazing price, this is absolutely the place to go. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be coming back.

Just visited Civic Opera Barber Shop, and I can’t believe I hadn’t been there before. This place is truly a class act. Open since 1971 in the same location, it’s a Chicago institution. I had Sam, the owner, cut my hair, and the experience was nothing short of first-class. The haircut was perfect, the service exceptional, and the price—only $40—was less than what I paid 20 years ago. It’s rare to find that kind of quality and value today. Highly recommended.

Old school barber shop - quick service and Sam was incredibly knowledgeable. Exactly the type of shop I was looking for. Very reasonable price as well considering downtown Chicago. Will now be coming here regularly for my hair cut. Espresso is also very good. 15th floor of the Lyric Opera House.

Civic Opera barber shop gives an excellent haircut and service. Always reliable, efficient, and great company. Highly recommend to anyone in the city - especially if you are looking for a shop downtown.

The most efficient operation I've encountered in a long time; Sam answers the phone quickly, works with my schedule, and very rapidly delivers an incredibly high-quality haircut. Not only that, but you can also get an espresso and a shoe-shine at the same time, so not a single minute gets wasted. And somehow, despite the speed and efficiency, the place still has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I genuinely feel happy each time I visit. If you're a busy man with a day full of meetings, but you still want to look your best, definitely give this place a try!

One and only barber shop in downtown that opens at 7:00am. Located in Civic Opera Building, 15th floor. Called around 8:00am to ask about beard trim, they asked me to come in 30 minutes. Upon entering I was greeted by my barber Leo. He is older Italian gentleman that has been working as a barber more than 30 years. Barber shop has old vibe but more as historical old vibe, it reminds me of the places that I used to go as a kid. I was happy with my service and experience. Will be back! Thank you
