An excellent barbershop. Thomas has been my barber for many years. I get a great cut every time. Visiting his shop is a pleasure. He has personally restored the beautiful vintage barber chairs. I always look forward to my visits.

Tomas is a great barber and such a gentleman. He is skilled and patient. My husband has gone to him for years and he has never been disappointed.

After a haircut at this barbershop, I developed folliculitis — an inflammation of the hair follicles. I had been coming here a few times before and everything seemed fine. The place looked a bit worn out, but I thought it wasn’t a big deal. Turns out, it was. It seems that the tools were not properly disinfected, and already that same evening after the haircut, I felt soreness on my scalp. By the next day, red spots appeared, and by the third day, it was clear this wasn’t simple irritation — the inflammation spread, some spots turned white, and my scalp hurt when I touched it. Interestingly, the folliculitis appeared only on the sides of my head — probably the exact area where the short fade was done. Looks like the tool used for trimming those parts was contaminated. I learned that it was bacterial folliculitis, caused by bacteria entering tiny cuts from poorly sanitized tools. I’ve been treating it for almost a week now — it’s about 70% better, but the first few days were really uncomfortable. I really hope this barbershop takes sterilization more seriously — it’s not just about hygiene, it’s about people’s health. For anyone who goes through the same thing, here’s what helped me 👇 💊 PanOxyl 4% — apply for 1–2 minutes, then rinse. 💊 Hibiclens — apply 5–10 minutes later, leave on for 30–60 seconds, then rinse. 💊 Neosporin — after 10–15 minutes, apply a thin layer to the affected area, do not rinse. 💊 Nizoral 1% — use once daily or every other day, leave on for 3–5 minutes, then rinse. Follow this routine for 5–7 days, leaving 5–15 minutes between each product so your skin can rest and each treatment can work effectively.

I was looking for a barbershop to do a very short female cut but I was worried about feeling uncomfortable in a barbershop as a female. I loved this place and the privacy of each booth! Tomas did a wonderful job on my hair and was so easy going and nice.

In town for a conference and had the full service hair and beard trim. After a great cut, hot towel and shoulder massage I walked out feeling like a king! Great old school barber vibe!

Appointment was easy to book, the vibe is awesome and I love that the space keeps its original 1930s decor. My barber was personable and she gave me a great cut. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in Chicago.

I’ve been going here for 2 years, in an experimental phase where I switched from short combed hair to long curly hair with a fade, to now a buzz cut fade. Tomas and Alexandra have been great to work with while I was experimenting with looks, they always refined and delivered on my vision. And once I settled on a style, Alexandra gave me consistent hair cuts for a year in which I got engaged and married — you can trust her with big events! The building is annoying to get into because you need to sign in every time.

Owner's response

Thank you for your wonderful review, Ranvit. We're thrilled to hear about your positive experiences with Tomas and Alexandra as you explored different styles. Congratulations on your engagement and marriage; we're honored to have been a part of those significant moments in your life. We appreciate your feedback regarding the building access and are always looking to improve the experience for our clients. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

I booked an appointment with Tomas to clean me up on my wedding day. I came from out of town and was worried about having a bad haircut for the big day. However, as soon as I walked in I knew I was in good hands. Beautiful walk-in barbershop in the 7th floor of a building right on the center of the city. Tomas' establishment is tidy and just as classic as it gets, I got the hot towel shave and a hair clean up + I wanted him to help me style my hair for the event. I was extremely pleased with my experience and will make it a point to stop by every time I am in the city. Worth every penny.

Owner's response

Thank you for your wonderful feedback, Jose! We're thrilled to hear that you felt confident and pleased with Tomas' services on your wedding day. It's great to know that you appreciated the ambiance and cleanliness of the barbershop. We look forward to welcoming you back every time you're in the city. Congratulations again on your big day!

Have been coming here every couple of weeks for the last few months to see Brian. Easy walking location in the Loop, nice building with security, and up the elevator on the 7th floor. Very reasonable pricing for the area for a barber (doesn't come with the wash, if you require that) and super easy to schedule and navigate their site. Brian does a great job in ensuring he knows what I'd like done each time and asking for feedback throughout the cut. The shop is tidy and well run, and has a dim relaxing vibe too it with your old school barber feel. Highly recommend!

Owner's response

Thrilled to hear you love the vibes and Brian's work! Thanks for the high praise and recommendation. See you soon!

I'm in Chicago celebrating my 10 year anniversary, and was very existed to have my first straight razor shave, with a haircut. Unfortunately this was not a good experience. For $110, I expect to have an experienc to remember. I had Tomas, my face is raw, with nicks, shaving rash, with lots of missed areas. I've had better shaves at home. I ask for a wet cut, number one around the side, with a blend and I little of the top. There is a track line around my head, uneven patches to we're you can see the outlineof his trimmer, and my hare was cut dry. I would like to say that the service made up for it, but in the 60 minutes I was there the only communication I had was, " what can I do for you" and goodbye" I wasn't even greeted with a hello, or smile. Worst haircut and customer service that I’ve paid for. Update after leaving this review. Tomas then calls me telling me this was an unfair review and tried to convince me to change it! Rather then excepting the reedback and improving, you think telling me I'm wrong and then make excuses about my experience. Please do better, it takes no effort to be kind, or at the very least make someone feel welcome in your business. Nicholas Halil
