Just a quick shoutout to Patrick! I just get a buzz cut—simple and quick—but he does such a great job every time. Always on time (I’ve never waited more than 5 minutes!), keeps the convo flowing, and genuinely makes you laugh. I actually look forward to my 20 minutes in the chair. Totally recommend! It is cash only and they have an ATM.

Always have a good experience here. It's nice to have a neighborhood, queer-owned barber. Especially one I don't have to feel like I have to adjust my chitchat for Midwest cis-het sensibilities. Or feel the burn of judgemental gazes.

Excellent shop, friendly and relaxed. I didn't really know what I wanted and just left it up to the barber and was super pleased. I'll come back next time I'm in town.

I love Slade's and have been going to Greg off and on for 20 years and was so happy when he opened his own business. The haircut is always amazing and I always feel he spends the perfect amount of time with me to get the cut just right. I often get several compliments every time I get my hair cut. I would recommend Slade's to anyone who wants a high quality haircut for a decent price.

Best barber shop in Chicago, hands down. I have a boy cut and I have not been able to find anyone who can cut my hair the way I like except for Greg at Slade's Barbershop. Simply the best!!!

I love Slade's! My go to when I lived in Chicago. Always felt like I was well taken care of and heard. Always happy with my cut and the environment is super friendly and welcoming. I always recommend Slade's to anyone in Chicago or even visiting if they need a cut for an event weekend!

I go to Patrick and he always does a great job with my hair. He takes his time and is very conversational. You definitely need an appointment and it is cash only, but the shop is pretty clear about this from the get-go (signage in the shop, on their website, etc).

I’ve always had great experiences and great haircuts with Greg and the other barbers here. You can make an appointment online but they can also accommodate walk in’s depending on how busy they are. It’s a great spot in a fun neighborhood!

I wanted to try this barbershop because it’s LGBTQ-inclusive, but my experience fell a bit short. When I showed my reference photo, the response felt dismissive rather than collaborative, and the overall service felt rushed. The haircut itself was okay, but the vibe wasn’t as warm or welcoming as I hoped. I appreciate the space, but I’ll be returning to my usual stylist.

I apologize, it wasn't clear that you were looking to "collaborate"... You showed me a picture of a cut that was essentially a shorter version of what you already had, which confused me because I figured you must've brought a picture because you were looking for a different style. So I asked for clarification you said that you wanted the same style you already had, but shorter. I went through my normal steps of checking in as we went along to make sure I was getting you the right look and lengths without going too short. Glad to hear you were at least satisfied with the cut. Sorry I didn't provide you the experience you were hoping for, and I will use your feedback to try to be better for others in the future.
