I was thrilled to see today that Metropolitan Barber Shop has re-opened, and that Medo is cutting hair there. He is great -- always makes me look my best.

Unfortunately, Metropolitan Barber Shop has not "re-opened". The shop space has been re-let by the Monadnock Building to a novice barber who is fraudulently and illegally using the original founder/owner's legacy and intellectual property to promote his fledgling operation.

I had a Haircut with Joseph Hamilton. The sanitation in the shop was 2/10. There was tons of hair from past clients all over the chair and all over the floor with no other customers in the place before I had arrived, and then he gave me what felt like a 15-minute speed cut after booking a haircut/beard trim. It also gave me a neck burn from the trim on my neck (see Pic below). I didn't ask for much, but I will not be returning.

I love this place in the loop because it's so near my work and the guys that work that there are great. I usually get Joe because he does great work, is really cool, and nice, but I've also had Mario a few times and his work is excellent too. The prices are fantastic at $40 for a men's cut. This place can't be beat.

This was a top notch experience, the barber was really nice and had a lot of great info about the city (I'm new here). The haircut looks great and feels great. Great price for the quality experience. I will 100% be returning.

MARIO is the best!! My wife compliments every new haircut as my "best ever". Very reasonable prices. Old school "classic" barber shop decor. Mario gives the best haircut for the money anywhere downtown.

Excellent haircut and booked an appointment same day. Joesph was very nice and did a great job. I was a first time customer and just described with pictures what I wanted and Joseph perfectly captured what I was hoping for. Classic barbershop feeling inside. Will definitely be back

They were so polite. Jonathan cut my hair . He was personable and carful. He took his time and helped me create a look I was going for. The whole shop was clean and had a fun and professional environment.

Always a great haircut experience here. This is the second time I've went and had my hair cut with Joseph and I could not be happier. The barber shop is timely with their appointments and the barbers do a great job without spending a huge amount of time. It's the best place in the city for a hair cut during your lunch break and is reasonably priced. It's a shame I haven't found this place sooner, but I'm glad I did!

Went here having only read reviews online. 8am appointment with Mario was absolutely awesome. The shop was pretty empty so early which made it a great intimate experience. I think I lucked out by picking Mario because I have longer hair and wanted to keep it pretty long. He was very easy to talk to, did a great job, and I was in and out in exactly 30 minutes. Will definitely go back. As an added perk, it is located in the Monadnock Building and fits perfectly.

My boyfriend got a haircut at Metropolitan yesterday, and the barber, Joseph Hamilton, did an amazing job. He cut off 6 inches of hair, and crafted a suave, modern haircut. The shave was very old fashioned: hot towel, shaving soap, and a straight razor. I was impressed by the barbers' attention to detail. Every edge and layer was styled carefully, and the end results were great. I'm definitely bringing my boyfriend back here when we come home to Chicago again!
