Jonathan the barber 1st listened to what I wanted and in return I got a fantastic hair cut for a reasonable price. He was super friendly!!! I will definitely go back for another!

Lloyd has been cutting my hair for years. I thought it was finally time to post a review. This is a laid back place to get your hair cut. The cuts are consistently good and Lloyd is easy to get along with. Everything about the shop just has a mellow vibe. You can’t go wrong here, especially compared to the chain places. No comparison.

I’ve been coming here the past year. I figured they were closed during Christmas Eve so I sought out a buzzcut from some other barbers. Every other barber wanted $40.00 for a buzzcut and I walked out of every one of their shops. If you want a haircut by industrious gentlemen who do the job right for a fair price go ahead and set up an appointment at Kempt and bring some cash. It’s always a pleasure to step into Lloyd’s place.

I’ve been looking for a new barber since my go to barber moved out of state. Wanted to find a place that had old style character and isn’t big n flashy. Searching the internet I looked at dozens of places and then I came across this one - it’s a drive from Evanston but it was absolutely worth it. Lloyd was welcoming and the conversation was exactly what I wanted. Great beard trim and will definitely be making this barber shop my go to from now on. Really appreciate the cut, Lloyd !

I’ve been coming to Lloyd for over ten years. Even after moving away from the immediate neighborhood, I still drive all the way down to have him cut my hair. Great guy and even better service.

Been going here for 5+ years now. Lloyd is a great barber, very fair pricing. I had gone to some of the higher end barbers in the city before and will say there is little to no difference for half the cost or more in some of the extreme cases. Great 2 person barber shop that takes reservations. I am pretty certain I will be going here until the shop closes / Lloyd retires.

Call ahead for an appointment, bring cash and enjoy a wide assortment of great magazines and books if you show up early. Kempt provides great service, attention to detail, and witty banter. If you have time, get a shave AND a haircut - you will not be disappointed. He does a great job with myself, my 13-year-old, and my 2 1/2 year old. I am lucky to have gone to Lloyd for over ten years now. If that's not a testament to the service, professionalism and quality, I don't know what else is?!

Your guy need to up his hair game? But hates the idea of a fussy hair place? Trek over to Kempt for the BEST haircut and shave he's EVER had. This place is a Chicago Classic! A man haven!!! Manly-man hair products, guitars for strumming, a motorcycle to gawk at... And yes, Lloyd's hair skills are solid - ask to see his forearm tat ;)
