Only giving 4 stars because my instructors Mr Carl and Mr L are amazing. Administration is horrible, there is no transparency in financial aid, they lie about the amount of money you will receive, they try and get over on the students with little to no financial literacy and urge us to take out loans under the impression it is “our” money and won’t owe anything. Overall administration is very unprofessional, attitudes subpar. Equipment and supplies are outdated, chairs are broken and no one ever seems to be able to hire someone to fix them or get us new ones. Cleaning crew does NOT clean properly, I have found termites and roaches in the cosmetology rooms where we shampoo guest, mold/mildew growing in the shampoo bowls.. I have personally had to buy cleaning products and clean the bowls prior to servicing guests. Overall really happy with my instructors, just wish the school cared more in general about the quality they give to their students and didn’t try to get over on us in financial aid. Also the ceiling collapsed in the hallway over a month ago…. Landlord has yet to fix it…

I really enjoyed my time at the school👍 Teacher Maria Isabel is a model of a teacher who is truly passionate about what she does. The school administration, Ms. Sara and Ms. Lebony, are always ready to help and give advice. 🙏Looking forward to my nail technician license.

I made a BIG MISTAKE going to this school. This school breathes Hispanic and, sadly, if you're not - you DEFINITELY feel the difference in treatment. You feel it in the assistance you get from the teachers. You feel it EVERY DAY.... ALL DAY. I wasted TIME, LOTS OF MONEY, AND I GOT LITTLE TO NOTHING OUT OF THIS SCHOOL. The teachers spoke Spanish way more than they should and would RARELY TRANSLATE unless asked by students to do so. It was just not a great experience for me personally. There needs to be some revamping done with the teaching staff. Just maybe consider getting teachers who actually teach and not just sit on their phones most days on phone calls while we're sitting there. Or leaving the classroom for extended periods of time and not saying anything. Or just talking about topics that should not have been discussed. The Hispanic population is DEFINITELY TREATED BETTER. I lived it. I witnessed it. Until the very end. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO THIS SCHOOL. NEVER.

The teachers are amazing, and welcoming. The facility is updated and modern. I love it here! And would recommend it if you’re looking to get your license in cosmetology, or nails.

I'm sure it's a good school for cosmetology, but as of late, the customer service (receptionist) has been awful. Rosemary can NOT multitask and needs to do better when it comes to taking notes and making appointments. I've been going to this place for years to get services done, and had never had issues. As of November 2024 and currently July 2025, I've had negative dealings with Rosemary. When it comes to making appointments and returning phone calls and remembering the conversations had with potential customers, she needs work. I work in the same customer service industry and deal with more than 5,000 people A DAY and can still manage to keep details, dates and calls in order. I called on Monday July 21, 2025 to make an appt for July 25, 2025, I had spoke to Rosemary and she stated that she would call me back to let me know if there was an availability. She calls back on Tuesday July 22, 2025, but I was unavailable so she left a message. I called her right back and we had a lengthy discussion about the time that was scheduled for me that I could not make that time because I had another appt. So, Rosemary stated that she would call me back the following day, Wednesday July 23, 2025 after speaking with an instructor to see if they would have something available either Thursday evening or to find out how long my service would take, and if I would have enough time to make it to my next appt. 4:45pm Wednesday, I had not received the callback that I was told that I would receive, so I called. Rosemary was just as ditzy as can be, she swore that she called and left a message, when in fact, she was referring to the message that she had left on Tuesday, in which we had already discussed HER (Rosemary) calling me back (Wednesday). The conversation went no where, so I told her to just cancel my appointment altogether because I was upset, not once did I get an apology from her for her misunderstanding. After that conversation, I went online and made a complaint, I then got another phone call from the manager who I explained the situation to and she stated that she too would also call me back that same day before closing. Here we are today Thursday, July 24, 2025 and no phone call. I now see why, AI is taking over jobs. This whole experience is unacceptable. Do better.

I initially had a frustrating experience with Florida Barber Academy’s online booking system. I booked an appointment through their official website, only to be told on the day of my appointment that bookings must be made by phone. This caused confusion and inconvenience, and I felt the online system needed urgent revision to avoid misleading others. However, I truly appreciate how the situation was handled afterward. Mrs. Zulma Coris was very understanding and took the time to sincerely explain what happened. She ensured I received the utmost care and made me feel valued as a customer. A special thank you to Mrs. Jenny, one of the instructors, for her exceptional service. She was incredibly gentle with my hair and took the time to explain every step of the process. Her professionalism and kindness really stood out. I also apologize for the delay in posting this review—I was out of town. Despite the rocky start, the service I received was amazing. Thank you, Florida Barber Academy, for turning the situation around.

Terrible school finished my 1200 hours for cosmetology and all my test in November 2024 it's now May 2025 and I haven't heard from or got got nothing else out of this school took a year of my life not to even get paperwork on how to get license. While here I had to deal with racists situations and no one did anything about. I was threatened many times and was the person at fault and was made to leave campus. I couldn't also go to class on Wednesdays because the teacher only taught the Spanish. It was 2024 and we had to deal with segregation NOBODY SHOULD BE SEPARATED BECAUSE OF THEIR RACE

I had an amazing experience at FBA (nail technician program). My teacher Ms. Kay truly cares about our success in every possible way. She taught us technique to where you actually know what you are doing once you graduate. Staff is friendly and helpful. 10/10

I had a wonderful experience at this school. Not only did classmates become family, but all the staff members from reception, administration, instructors were all very helpful. Ms. Allison was great helping me with all the final preparations for my state board. Just would like to say thank you to all that have made this experience a memorable one!! 5 stars all the way!!
