Place sucks I asked for maintenance and the guy went wild with my natural hairline edge and cut a bunch of it off trying to make it sharp. Would never recommend

Owner's response

Hi Thomas, I am so sorry you had that type of haircut here and weren’t satisfied. We don’t usually touch the front hairline unless directed by you the customer. If there is anything that we can do to fix it up and mend the issue here please follow up on Monday-Friday with Kirk or Kiera in the AM to get things straightened out and get you through to the next haircut. Again I personally apologize for that type of service here as that’s not something that we take lightly. Thank you for supporting our small business.

First off I just want to say Jack is extremely talented when it comes to cutting hair he really took his time with me and making it look exactly how I imagined it thank you will definitely be back!!

Owner's response

Jager, thanks for the great review. So glad Jack was able to get you looking and feeling your best with a great cut! Thanks for supporting our small business.

Second time getting my hair trimmed here and I’m excited to have this become my new regular spot. Kirk was extremely efficient (I was in and out in 15 minutes), beyond reasonably priced, cheerfully conversational, and he gave me exactly the trim I was looking for - everything you could want from a barber. He also went out of his way to recommend a product specifically for my hair type after the cut which was really appreciated and not what you’d expect from an old-fashioned cash-only barbershop aiming for quick turnaround. The last time I went, I had a younger femme-presenting barber who was also excellent. I love that this old fashioned barbershop has character and history as well - it feels wild to get a haircut at SuperCuts or Great Clips prices but from an independent small business with deep roots in the community. There are so few spots left like this in Seattle. As I said - I’m excited to be a new regular!

Owner's response

Hi Ben! Thanks for the stellar review. Glad Kirk was able to get your hair just how you like it. And glad Kiera was able to help you the first time. Can’t wait to see you again, “regular”.

I consistently bring a reference photo and clearly explain the haircut I want, and I normally receive a good result with only about 10–15% variation. Unfortunately, one barber, PABLO has repeatedly provided an unacceptable experience. He is frequently rude, speaks down to clients, and does not listen to instructions; on one occasion I specifically asked for a 1–1.5 inch trim on the sides and he proceeded to run a trimmer over my entire head, leaving me nearly bald. I have also overheard him discourage other barbers to get feedback for any modifications after a haircut, while mentioning how he does the same and doesn't let customers get any adjustments because some people just don't deserve it. When you try to talk to him he pretends he can't hear you and blames it on your accent while he himself has a heavy one. Nobody else here has ever had a problem understanding me other than him. He has a consistent pattern of rude, narcissistic behavior. I do not recommend getting a haircut from Pablo and hope management will review this behavior. If it were not for the other excellent barbers on staff (like Kiera, Jack, Dan, Kirk, Angel), I would not continue to visit. That's why I am rating this place a 3/5. As a practical improvement, please consider publishing the working hours of individual barbers on your website so we can more easily walk in for an appointment with the people we prefer.

Owner's response

Hi Eric! I’m so sorry you haven’t been happy with Pablo but have had great experiences with the other barbers. Thank you for the recommendation about updating our website to include the individual barbers schedules. While we don’t do appointments you are always welcome to call and verify who is in the day of and you’re ALWAYS welcome to wait on your favorite barber. I am working with our IT guy and should have the website update within the next couple of weeks so keep an eye out for that.

Good haircut for a very reasonable price. Friendly staff. I just got a trim and it took about 20 minutes. Very satisfied! You can’t find a haircut for a better price.

Owner's response

Thank you for a great review! See you when you need another one.

I always go to Jack — he’s a great barber! He always takes his time and puts a lot of effort into the cut, which isn’t guaranteed at many other places in this price category. Great prices, classy shop — Jack is the man. The other barbers are awesome as well. My go-to spot!

Owner's response

Thanks for a great review. Glad you liked your cut with Jack. He’s awesome. See you when it gets long again.

An extremely bad hair-cutting experience. The staff were extremely rude and impolite. Today, when I came here for a haircut, the barber (the guy with a tattoo on his nape and nose ring on his nose.) had a angry expression the whole time and didn't say any word. The haircutting process was very impatient and rude which just took over 5 minutes. I told him that he should improve his service attitude. He even directly refused and ignored me, completely disregarding the customer's requests. This guy should be fired. You can be unhappy, but you should never vent your bad mood on the customers who pay for your service. I have never seen such an impolite and rude service staff before, never. And I will never come to this hair salon for a haircut again.

Owner's response

Hi there. So sorry you had a poor experience with your haircut. Sounds like there was a miscommunication or misunderstanding. Hope you find a salon that fits your needs since the barbershop here doesn’t seem like a great fit. If you want to come back and try again we are here for you though. Best of luck.

Cheap but terrible service. When I walked in, the barber was eating a croissant, drinking coffee, and watching a game. He didn’t wash his hands, kept stopping every 15 seconds to look at the TV, and rushed through a haircut in 5 minutes with no attention to detail. He didn’t even bother to show me the result—just said, “That’ll be $26.” Go next door if you want decent service.

Owner's response

Thanks for the review. Sorry you had a subpar experience. If you want to give us another try come back during the week for a different experience. Also feel free to speak up and make sure you’re happy with the results. If he forgot to show you the cut you can always ask!

Honestly this is the first time I post a bad review upon this place. Came in Saturday afternoon 5pm, was assigned to a guy in purple hat, tattoed arms, tiny braided at the back, hispanic I guess. I literally asked him to just clean up, shorten everything. I have been keeping the same form, the same style for 5 years. I went here multiple times for cleanups and they were fine, but this guy seems to not understand the assignment, tapering on the sides, thinning top and back, how is that so hard? He buzzed off my entire right side, leaving the top uneven?! I was frustrated and said "it's too short". Then he picked up the scissors, I asked what for, he said he was gonna fixed, and ended up shortening my right top, making it more uneven Honestly if you don't understand just ask the customer again or ask to see model photos. You have too many barbers which mess up your store and they still hanging around? Really disappointed. I'll have my cap on for the rest of the month. Below is the photo I asked him to follow, the other 4 are his result. I remember that I carefully asked to get the top shortened gradually as it goes back like in the photo, so it stays long at face/forehead, and short at the back. Really, I don't know if it was my fault for not having a good communication or he just didn't want to do it the way I want it, what a joke. Update: Problem fixed! I'm happy with that, you deserve the other 4 stars

Owner's response

Hi Phúc, oh no! I am so sorry you had this experience here at the barber shop. No one likes when their hair is cut to short and it sounds like you got our newest member on our team who is still learning. I know you said that your hair is already shorter then you wanted but please come in on Monday morning and Kirk or Kiera can help make the cut tolerable while it grows back out so you don’t have to wear a hat for the next month or foreseeable future. I understand how frustrating this is so I completely empathize with you. Hope to see you soon.

I had great experiences here before when I'm at UW but not this time. I'm not a picky person especially thinking about the price but this is really the worst haircut I've ever had. It's a Sunday afternoon (6/16) with no one inside besides two barbers. Haircut: They didn't even cut the temple (photo attached), this is the basic standard for a haircut and it is so ugly. Barber: two barbers one looks like hispanic (he called me chino) and another looks like asian. They are definitely racists. One asked me if I am chinese spy?! This is Ave with so much chinese restaurants and students so you are comfortable living with so many spys? Besides, with all the weird questions like if I am married, if I will get married? Please this is definitely not normal questions customers should be asked during a haircut. PLEASE be respect to your customers. Spend a few more dollars in other places to get a better hair cut and barber..

Owner's response

Hi Tony. I am so sorry that you had this kind of experience. I can’t be there during all of our open days and hours but that’s no excuse to how you were treated and talked too. Please come back in and allow myself, Kirk, the owner or Kiera to fix the haircut for you at the very least. We both will be there Monday - Friday in the mornings for sure and intermittently schedules in the afternoon. Hopefully you will give the business another shot and know that you can wait on specific barbers that you like the haircut and conversation with. I don’t want this to be a representation of my business I have worked hard to build and keep.
