I used to really enjoy my haircuts with Stacie, but since she left, the service hasn't been the same. My recent experiences with Rachel have been disappointing. During my first cut, she was distracted watching football while working. On my second visit, I was 5 minutes late but texted ahead. She skipped my hair wash entirely and didn't mention it until I asked. The attitude was rude and unprofessional.

I went to this barber shop expecting a decent experience, but the owner completely ruined it. Instead of being welcoming, the owner came across as rude and dismissive. A barber shop should feel inviting and professional, but this place felt the opposite. I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who expects good service and respect.

Owner's response

Lilar, I’m sorry to read this review and hear that you felt less than welcome, especially by myself! I’m shocked as I don’t spend much time in this location but when I do come across guests try to restrain myself with hospitality,<br>As I care deeply about our small business and try not to overwhelm our guests. Suffice it to say are you sure it was me? I would reach out personally but I don’t see a Lilar in our database. Please contact me at matt@steelebarber.com as I’d appreciate the opportunity to solve this mystery.

I just had my first HC at Steele While visiting from California as I go back and forth to Seattle. Loved the service and Stacie was phenomenal. They also use amazing aveda product. Stacie skillfully figured out my hair on short order and nailed it!

Stacie is PHENOMENAL. Personal, warm, conversational, and an expert at what she does. I was relaxed and very impressed with how my visit went. I look forward to my hair growing so I can come back!

I had been going here for many years. My hair stylist left recently and I tried a few other hair stylists at this location. I feel like I have a fairly simple hair style but all of them manage to mess it up which made the overall experience pretty negative.

Owner's response

Michael, I'm sorry to hear this and disappoint with your other stylists. I'm the owner, Matt Humphrey, and I'd love to get you back in with our lead stylist to assist in finding you a good match. You can imagine as a small business we work really hard to get it right, when we don't we own it. I don't have enough information here to know how to reach out to you but please email me at matt@steelebarber.com with a contact number and I'll set it up. I hope you take me up on the opportunity to earn your business back.

Last time I tried to go here the stylist never showed up. They let me sit there for almost an hour until they said that I will have to book another appointment and I left. I was not expecting it, but I got a call back from a lovely customer service rep who ended comping another appointment. Thank you! Unfortunately, I just made the mistake of booking at this location one final time. When I booked it, I made a mistake and had to rebook within 20 minutes of making the initial appointment (moving and child care barriers). The online system looked like it allowed me to rebook for a later day. Since it was within 24 hours of the initial appointment I booked, the system apparently did not cancel the appointment. I was told I had to pay 100% - then it went down to 50% (to ever be served again). This error seemed so silly, like something that should have been caught. It is clearly an error when 2 of the exact same appointments were scheduled within days of each other at the same shop 20 minutes apart. I let the rep know the last time I went to this spot I was stood up and then they decided to waive the fee. I have been a loyal customer for YEARS and this left me feeling like I no longer want to do business here. You’re business is okay letting go of a loyal customer over a software issues and a policy with no flexibility for errors in your system? Why not eat the cost and just keep the customer happy and coming back? Anyone should get this kind of understanding - not just those who get stood up. This just seems so silly and it makes me sad.

I was heading off to a wedding a couple weeks ago and wanted to clean up my haircut before I left. Like the idiot I am, I waited until a couple days before to make an appointment and this Equinox, Superlio barber was the only place that had an open appointment. Well whatever, I’ll pay an arm and a leg to look extra fine at a wedding. That’s probably worth it…barely. I walk in and a woman offers me water, coffee, or a beer. I’m like shit, I’m about to pay way more than I thought. I sit down with Virginia and I almost just want to get this over with. I show her a picture of a haircut that I’ve been showing dudes who cut my hair for literally months. Maybe she gets it right. Well hats off, not because she nails it, but because she tells me exactly what we need to do to keep me looking good while I grow out the length necessary to get it. I walk out of there with a great haircut a little pissed that I can’t go back to paying ONLY $55 for a haircut anymore. Goddamnit. Least I look good though…🤷🏻‍♂️ EDIT: I called Virginia "Victoria" in my original review which gave me a heart attack when I couldn't find her while booking my followup😅

Steele is THE Barber shop to visit in Seattle. I always feel welcome and at ease when I visit one of their locations. Lorena, at Ballard, is phenomenal. I feel transformed after every cut and could not recommend her services more.

In short - Virginia is one of the best stylists I have ever been fortunate enough to sit in the chair for a cut. I’ve move over 13+ moves growing up, and have had my haircut by many stylists over the course of those moves. With Virgina, she is truly a cut above the rest - no pun intended. The level of attention to detail, the skillful manipulation of the shears and clippers, and the overall quality of her finished work is incredible. Not only is she prompt in speed when needed, she is not afraid to take another look and retouch something to make it perfect. She is dedicated to the master of her craft - and she excels at it. She will forever have a customer with me. Thanks Steele Barber for having her in your shop!

Rock n' roll! Amber was awesome. Seriously she took great care of me and made sure I liked what I was getting. The atmosphere is great too. Owner Matthew takes great care to make sure everyone is happy. If you like Whiskey, it's a great place too. =) This is the real deal. See ya next time.
