I booked an appointment at Steel Barber in Ballard this morning, just a couple of hours before the scheduled time. When booking, there was no visible disclaimer stating that children weren’t allowed unless they were also receiving a service. Only after booking did I receive an email saying kids under 16 couldn’t be present unattended. In my opinion, a policy like that should be shown before booking—not buried in a confirmation email afterward. I brought my 7-year-old with me—hoping he could get a haircut too and to give my wife a break while she watched our other two kids. When I arrived, they told me they couldn’t cut my hair because my son was with me. They did waive the cancellation fee this time, but explained that the shop isn’t safe for kids due to sharp tools. I understand safety concerns, but the lack of a clear warning during the booking process makes the whole experience frustrating. I walked over to Rudy’s Barbershop down the street, and they fit me in immediately. They even gave my son a lollipop and made us feel welcome. If you have kids or value family-friendly businesses, I can’t recommend Steel Barber. Rudy’s was a much better experience for us.

I reached out to you yesterday via the phone # we had for you as I had hoped speaking to you directly father to father would help you reconsider coming to Steele Barber for the future. Although I didn’t create a barbershop experience that is family friendly necessarily, with younger children 8 and under, we have built a loyal following with young Dad’s and their young gentlemen seeking an elevated experience. I'm sorry this wasn't more evident, but we do in fact have our “kid” policy under policies in our website and go out of our way to put it in our email confirmations, but unfortunately there are limits to what we can put in our text confirmations. I hope you will reconsider coming back yourself someday and enjoy some time to yourself, then in the future we’d love to invite your son in to join you.

Had a very nice scissor cut here with Kym. We had a great chat as well. This place is a bit more expensive than I’m used to, but it’s not overpriced by any means and the shop is very comfortable.

Go see it for yourself. Genuinely one of the best Barber shops I've been to in Seattle. It has the price point of a Seattle barber shop ranging from 50 to 100 depending on the stylist, But the customer service is just, awesome. They offer a shirt to change into so your shirt doesn't get all hairy, they offer complementary beverages (not just water) And they have an area to store jackets and bags while getting your haircut. I loved the waiting area, I wish I spent more time there lol. They also have really cool merch as well. I will definitely be returning here to get my haircut. The staff are wonderful, the customer service is awesome, and just the style and atmosphere in general was so warm and inviting. If you're considering the price, just know that they have so much more to offer than just haircuts here. Give it a chance, because you'll be surprised.

DONT GO HERE . I booked an appointment, showed up and they said they would have to reschedule me. They comped me when I went back but honestly it’s really over priced for the quality. My hair was cut by a lady who’s name rhymes with JESSICA and half of my hair in the back is 2 inches longer than in front which I realized a week or so after I got it cut. Although I only tipped, it normally would’ve been around 100 bucks total. It’s one of the worst haircuts I’ve ever received and I would not come back. UPDATE: I went to another salon less than two weeks after writing this review because my hair was completely unpresentable. The lady who fixed my hair commented “this looks like something a child would do to a doll” I thought it was bad but not that bad. Rip offf

We clearly missed the mark with you in our attempt at earning your business. I’d appreciate the opportunity to speak with you at your earliest opportunity as I’m 100% sure we can do better than this. I’ve built a business on quality and consistency but we certainly are not beyond making mistakes, we just work really hard not to make the same ones. Rayna is a wonderful skin specialist! There's a private wait room towards the back of the barbershop which creates such a small little oasis in a busy environment. Her touch is gentle and grounding and I loved that she would walk me through what she was doing. Pleeeeeease go see her!! It was a wonderful experience and my skin was glowing!

I enjoyed the experience. Thank you. The only thing that could improve is the music. Sad rock didn’t fit the classy vibe here. I’d give stylists control of the playlist.

I have been getting my regular haircuts here with Lorena for the past few years and she always does a consistently great job, where I always come out of there looking much better than when I arrived. The rest of the staff is also very kind and helpful. This is a top notch barbershop and I happily keep coming back even though I do not live in Ballard anymore.

Kenney is a very talented and nice barber, he made me look fresh again with a really nice haircut. Great service and I will definitely recommend this barbershop to my friends ;)

This is my second time coming to this place & I’ve finally found a stylist that I will be coming back to, his name is Kenny and his work is astonishing, my entire experience felt very relaxing & extremely comforting and I’m beyyoonddd impressed with my before and after results!! Also the staff is ver sweet & accommodating.i truly love this place and really do recommend Kenny he definitely knows what he’s doing & deserves and award for his work!! I will be coming back soon!

Super clean, and a great location on Ballard Avenue. They carry a nice selection of Barbour clothing, and Aveda skin and hair products. They also have a really nice hair salon.
