The service is terrible. You come to ask something and they answer you like crap. I'm not coming back to this place. No wonder it has so few stars. They should close this place down.

Stopped by Smitty's the guy is sitting there eating, the look we got. I asked is we were interrupting your lunch and he looked at his food and looked at us and says yes. We walked out. The most rude vile person. Close for lunch if it's an issue.

I called just to get an appointment, and the first thing that they told me was “WHAT YOU WANT?” He screamed to me twice because the first time I was just in shock of what his response was. DONT GO THERE he was really rude it is not even a 1 start

Great guy, but bad haircut. Didn’t even trim the sides. If you’re getting one length then maybe, anything else, I wouldn’t recommend

Walked in and first words were “cash only, you don’t like it, you can get out”. Ok, not a big deal as I had cash. When I described what I wanted, was met with attitude and was told there’s no other way to cut my hair than the way he described. Ok, thought we will see how this goes. Final product was just off. It grew out weird too. Wouldn’t recommend.

I moved to Seattle about 11 months ago and I went to Smitty’s since they were local and I haven’t been anywhere since. Cash only but a great price, great haircut, and I’m done in 20 minutes maximum. I always go on my lunch break and I’m done with time to spare every time. I would highly recommend Smitty’s Barber Shop to anyone looking to get their haircut in Ballard.

Do not come here if you care about what your hair looks like. The barber was kinda rude from the beginning, which should've been a red flag and my first sign to turn around. I asked for a low taper and to keep it longer on the top. He basically butchered up my hair and did whatever he felt like. I showed him pictures of what my hair looked like after my prefered fresh haircut and what I wanted done , which was very basic. He looked at my phone for maybe two seconds and made me feel like I was in good hands. I absolutely hate my hair right now and I have to pretty much grow it out to even attempt to fix the damage. I cannot even part my hair to the side I usually do because it's so messed up. I am not very picky but, i have something completely different than what i expected. He cut my hair facing the opposite way of the mirror, so i couldnt see what was going on until the end and he also has a concealed hand gun the entire time which kinda made me feel uncomfortable to even tell him how jacked up my hair is. Do not come here unless you want a buzz cut or a shave.

Good, fast, or cheap. PICK TWO. I got fast and cheap service, no question. Unfortunately I feel that there is something fundamentally flawed with his technique to a mens haircut. I'm feeling fortunate my hair grows quickly and can correct the style in just a couple weeks. I was not expecting a shop vac to used on my head as part of my haircut. I will not be returning.

Update 3.18.23: I am a multi-year returning customer and have not been to another barber. Smittys always gives me a sharp cut that helps me in my professional life. I’m thankful for the authentic local barber holding it down. Thanks! Gracias por todo Estoy agradecido por este corte de pelo Nov 2020: Great barber! Real, authentic and professional. I’ve been to quite a few shops in Seattle and nobody else compares! Good prices! Comfortable atmosphere.

We took our 2-yr old boys in for a simple trim. The cut they both got was great! And WAY cheaper than other places who cater to kids. They didn’t sit in cars for their haircut, but they changed the TV to cartoons and were very good with the boys. We’ll be back!
