I think the place is permanently closed. I drove by today and didn't even see the building there. Sad - because it was a historical spot. I got my haircut there once, way back in 1992, when I would help my mom at the Video Factory across the street. I remember when I came back, our coworker said I looked like Friar Tuck. Whether that's good or bad - I'll leave it up to you. RIP Smitty's

$12 for a men's haircut. Straight up. Don't expect the best haircut of your life, expect to pay half what a normal haircut costs and that's what you'll get. Know what you're walking into and that's what you get. Update: 3/18/2024 Worst haircut of my life. It's not even worth $12. I could give myself a better haircut with only a mirror and clippers. -3 stars from 5 originally.

Not only did I leave with a botched haircut, but I also had to endure a rude and disrespectful attitude from the stylist. From the moment I sat down in the chair, I could tell that the stylist was disinterested and inattentive. Despite showing her a picture of the hairstyle I wanted, she seemed to ignore my requests and proceeded to cut my hair haphazardly. The end result was nothing short of a disaster. The haircut was uneven, choppy, and completely different from what I had asked for. It's evident that the stylist lacked the skill and competence necessary to deliver a satisfactory haircut. Overall, my experience at Smitty's was incredibly disappointing. Not only did I leave with a terrible haircut, but I also felt disrespected and undervalued as a customer. I would strongly advise against visiting this salon if you're looking for quality service and a pleasant experience. Save yourself the frustration and find a salon that actually cares about its customers.

I've gotten my haircut here many many times over the years. It was $5.50 for the longest time. I noticed one day that the sign outside was different with prices, and they were a bit more than what I thought I was paying. I asked the gall inside how much it was and she said what did you? What did I charge you? Last time I told her I gave her $7 which included the tip, and she said 7 or $8 is fine. The price on the sign said $12. Now he's given extra dollar or two for a tip cuz I do a great job

Sharon does a pretty decent job. Not terribly consistent, but decent nonetheless, especially for $12. I wish the new owner would reinvest some of the money for a deep clean of the place from time to time. Looks like it's been years since it's been done.

Yikes...avoid at all costs. Paid $10 for what has to have been the worst haircut I've ever received. I was probably in the chair no more than 7 minutes, the request to scissor cut the top was met with clippers. No parts were trimmed evenly, and far more of my hair was taken off than I requested. Save yourself the time and take your business anywhere but here, unless a terrible, $6 haircut is what your desire.

Do you remember your Barbers name?

To all the guys and gals who have supported Smitty's throughout the decades , I'm sorry to say that it has now changed ownership and staff . With that change came skyrocketing prices . Most prices have doubled if not tripled . It looks like the new owner is part of our society that is caught up in American greed and has disregarded its loyal patrons who have supported the business for decades. Perhaps it is time for a new Community Barber Shop to open up that will give services at a fair price and will be considerate of the clientele that supports it in our community . Best of luck to all you patrons who supported Smitty throughout the decades in finding a reasonable loyal barber shop. Best regards. MB
Owner's response
It is true that ownership and prices have changed, but the staff has not. Even with the price increase there is nowhere else that offers the value you get at Smitty's Barber shop. Mike Banfield your review is based off your own pure selfishness and ignorance. The wonderful barbers at Smitty's have served this community for decades with no price increase in 30 years, putting their own needs last. The resent price increases are due to rising inflation and cost of living skyrocketing and not "American greed". Smitty's was forced to increase prices or close its doors. Thank you for your support and we hope to see you again.

Very bad service. The lady there can only do haircuts for old people because they don’t complain. Because if u complain she is going to be mad on you. She messed up mine and my sons hair cut. When i said she didn’t do well she said thats the best she can do. Specifically if you are not white don’t go there. She will turn racist. Super bad experience. She said they are barbers not saloon so thats means they are allowed to messed up with your haircut. She was so mad that she came to my car and flipped on me. I was shocked

This place is awesome. Prices almost defy belief. You can't get anything for $5 these days except a terrible sandwich at Subway or a great haircut at Smitty's. It's a true landmark, as Belynda told me.

I love this place. I've had my hair cut by both women, so don't go by other's reviews. I go wednesdays and have never had any issues, in fact, it's the only place I go! for $5.50, I wouldn't think of going elsewhere. I always give her at least a $5 tip and I still pay way less than the next barber. Oh, I also get trimmed up with her razor and I love it!
