Based on a recommendation from a neighbor, we took my son here for his first haircut around 1yo and have been consistently coming for the last 2 years! They are very kid friendly and have lots to do to keep kids entertained while waiting, during the cut, and a fun treat once done! My usually wiggly little guy is happy to sit (fairly!) still in the seat for his cut. They have shows, toys, books, popcorn & lollipops! The haircuts are also great - and more impressive knowing they're being done on squirmy little ones! we've had cuts from 4 of the different staff members and each one has been great! Can't recommend this place enough!

caters to men and kids - great place for the younger folk. TV on in waiting area and for a few of the chairs for hairs. they still serve popcorn (free) and sell water for a buck.

Pros: the kids like this place. The trains, tvs, popcorn machine, and lollipops make it so my kids ask to come here specifically. The team there knows how to quickly cut a small child’s hair. The cuts are pretty good and they exercise a lot of finesse with wiggly or nervous babies. Annie is very nice. Cons: - Every time we go in, we wait at least an hour. Weekends are a mess. Don’t even bother. You might choose to go on a weekday for a smaller wait? Cool, except there’s only two people working and the chairs need to turn over 3 times each before your turn. - It’s all cash, so be ready to pay a $4 atm fee. It’s not a big deal but it’s mildly meh. - The most recent time we went there, they put on a Peppa Pig YouTube video (of course, the TVs are a help for the little kids) BUT they failed to notice it was an unlicensed video depicting a zombie outbreak among Peppa and her friends. I mean - all this kid-focused service and it seems like they could invest in a Prime or Netflix account and make sure their TVs are showing the real deal. That’s on us as parents to monitor as well. - The most recent time we went, we also saw a brazen line cutting. One of the stylists let someone she was friendly with skip the line when 5+ customers had been waiting over an hour. She said he’d left and come back - “x” for doubt. Besides, is leaving and coming back when it’s your turn even an option? Would love to do that instead of sitting for 90 minutes. - The actual haircuts - totally fine for little kids and the skill with the 3 and unders is impressive. But if your kid starts to want specific blending, fades, etc., this isn’t really the place. I’ve also seen uneven spots on my children’s heads that got missed and I think the long queues mean they gotta be efficient vs. thorough. My most recent visit just pushed me over the edge - we’re not coming back. We can bring snacks and screens ourselves to another barber. Why wait an hour and after all that, there is a line skip that keeps you there yet another 20 minutes? My kids don’t scream and squirm anymore. We can go elsewhere. In summary, go if you can truly go on an off time with no wait, and if your kids are so small that they need Annie and team’s special ops level of skill with squirmy children. After that, remember that any other place will not have 8 people ahead of you in line every time you go (and you could even reserve a time). Your kid’s haircut doesn’t have to be a 2 hour outing.

We love this spot for kids cuts. We've worked with a few but Kim is our favorite for the big cuts taking our toddler from long curls to man bun and recently a short quiff. Kind, efficient, and talented.

We have been coming to Westover Barber for over 6 years and despite moving further out into the 'burbs, we continue to come back for every single haircut my kids need. The haircuts are wonderful and in particular Annie with the younger kiddos is fantastic. With the moving heads and jerking around she still somehow executes a great haircut flawlessly. Whether it's your child's first haircut or 100th, this is a great spot. There also is a train table that the kids are drawn to every time they come in - it's hard to get them to leave! Bring cash with you (although they do have an ATM there) as it's cash only. Bonus if you come during lunch/dinner and can walk down to the Italian Store :)

We really liked this place before but last time we went it was terrible. They did the exact opposite. We asked for the front to be long enough to tuck behind his ear and the back to be more layered. They cut it short in the front and left the back long. They didn’t even bother drying his hair to fix any unevenness. See photos. We will never come back to this place.

A great to bring your kids for a haircut. They have toys and cartoons to make their wait more fun, and the hairdressers are very caring and know how to deal with the little ones (even toddlers!). Sadly, they don't take appointments and the business is only cash (no credit cards accepted, but they have an ATM available inside the shop)

We’ve been taking our boys to Westover Barber Shop for over five years now, and they are definitely our favorite place for kids haircuts. Tran in particular is the only one we’ve ever found who is able to successfully cut my seven year old’s thick, cowlick ridden hair and somehow shape it so that it lies flat and grows out wonderfully every time. We’ve tried a few other spots at various points over the years (mainly when we needed cuts badly and Tran was out of town or unavailable that week), but no one else does as well. We love them, and highly recommend them for kids cuts. Tran, as mentioned, is excellent, but Annie and Helen also do a great job with my kids’ cuts. Though I can’t comment on men’s cuts from personal experience, there are often men in there getting cuts who seem quite happy with their cuts as well and who seem very familiar with the staff, so I assume they do a good job with them as well.

I took my 1.5 year old daughter to get a cut with Annie and it was a great experience. The establishment is kid friendly and they have toys and Netflix equipped to keeps the kids entertained if there’s a wait/during the cut. Cost was $21 which I think is pretty standard for this dc region where everything is so darn pricy. Because my daughter seemed entertained I even considered getting my hair cut here but they do not do women’s. I appreciate them being honest rather than attempting and destroying my hair
