Absolutely amazing!! I just moved to VA Alexandria area and was looking for a barber after going to one that didn't quite listen to my haircut directions, I looked up "The ultimate Barber" and booked an appointment with John H and he did a great job. John took his time and listened carefully to the details I gave him for my haircut, nothing extra and nothing less. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Carlos is AMAZING! He cuts my 2 year old son's hair and it's always on point! He makes sure my son is comfortable, enjoying the experience, and goes with his flow. I appreciate his care, professionalism, attentiveness and I always love the results! I HIGHLY recommend! I also love the peaceful environment in the shop. It removes all distractions for a 2 year old. They keep the noise down because they're all focused on doing their best cuts. And the other barbers are very hospitable. Ultimate is exactly that! ULTIMATE!

Good morning. I have contemplated writing this email to the owner of the Ultimate Barber. Hopefully this email will find this way to that person. Last Thursday on my way home from work I thought to myself how bad I needed a haircut. My barbershop is in Clinton, Maryland and many miles away from my job at the Pentagon. So, while I was traveling on route one I looked to my right and saw a barbershop in the neighborhood!! My first thought was to see if it was black owned. It appeared to be because I saw all black barbers from the street in my car. I found a parking space and went inside. I realized I didn’t have cash so I asked the person in the first chair, probably Lead Barber, if they took credit cards. The gentleman told me that they did take cards. I was then told that I was next. I assumed it was with him and he appeared to be a professional, but his answer was very short. Before I could sit down, as I took my seat, he said to another Barber all the way at the other end of the barbershop to send the person that was in his chair to him and sent me to the far end Barber, who appeared to be somewhat disabled. I was hesitant about getting in the chair. First of all, I didn’t understand why I was sent somewhere else when the barbershop was basically empty. Secondly, the The Barber that I was sent to clearly was not seasoned as far as being a barber is concerned. He started out cutting my hair the wrong way, in the wrong direction since i comb my hair back. So I told him not to cut much off at all and just shape me up. That was still a challenge for that gentleman. In retrospect think the reason that I was sent to that Barber was because I’m older. I’m a 74 year-old Professional still working and still in my right mind. The fact that I was sent to a person that obviously was not the top Barber and older was, I felt, ridiculous and disrespectful. The person that I was sent to was older and very nervous. And the clippers were shaking the whole time. At the end of my haircut, I went to the counter and asked for the price. I was charged $35 for what wasn’t even a haircut. It was more of a shape up . In my case there was a line edged and minimal, very minimal hair cut off. I was in that chair about twenty minutes for a cut that was very incomplete. I always try to frequent our businesses as a black man. Especially since I came up during the civil rights era. So much has been lost, so much is being lost from our culture. Our people don’t love each other. The fact that I was sent to obviously the worst Barber in your shop because your people thought it was “age appropriate” was ridiculous and disrespectful. I will never frequent your barbershop again. I will also go on social media and urge all of my friends and anyone else (including ratings on your website) that will listen not to go there. We as Black people were taught by white people to hate each other. Your shop, by the first Barber sending me to the worst Barber, demonstrated hate for me as an older black man. You discriminate against your own people!! Hopefully you will regret this and treat your customers better. I certainly hope that the man in the first chair is the owner. As the former owner of two businesses I realize how much repeat business matters. I will end this by saying that all of you people are going to have to get old. Just because you see gray doesn’t mean that’s a person is naïve. Certainly not naïve. I pray for that man who cut my hair and hope that he can get the proper training . I appreciate the fact that he was very kind. I certainly hope he is treated well. Best regards,

Mr. Darden, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I sincerely regret that your visit to The Ultimate Barber did not meet your expectations.

I also appreciate you supporting Black businesses and choosing to stop in our shop that day.

To provide some context, clients in our shop are typically served based on barber availability. On the day you visited, I personally had a scheduled appointment arriving shortly after, so you were directed to the barber who was immediately available that time. There was absolutely no intention to disrespect you or make assumptions about you in any way.

At The Ultimate Barber we take pride in serving clients from all backgrounds, ages, and professions with respect and professionalism. It is important to us that every guest feels welcome and valued.

I’m truly sorry that your experience left you feeling otherwise. If you would ever be open to speaking with me directly, I would welcome the opportunity to talk and make things right.

Thank you again for your feedback.

This place is a disaster. Bob P cut my hair with scissors and did not know how to do so. I need to get a second haircut as a result. There are long and short patches. The back isn't clean at all. I had to instruct him how to do a trim. It had to explain to him that, yes, I want all parts of my hair trimmed, not just sections. His hands shook incessantly throughout. And I finally had to ask him to use clippers to try to fix some of the more obvious unevenness. This is anything but the ultimate barber. Despite my repeated complaints, no one stepped in. A rip off, disaster, and place to be avoided.

I recently moved here and went to this hairdresser. The impression was bad because of the master who cut my hair. His hands were shaking. As a result, he cut my hair crookedly. Here is the result of their work. I'm not happy,

Do NOT get haircut by Bob. He really chopped up my hair without any finesse. Completely uneven cuts and made me look like a crooked bush. I think his time has come to lay down the scissors and retire.

I moved here recently and went to the barbershop I heard so much about to get a haircut. I arrived 5-10 minutes before my scheduled appointment and waited up to around 20 minutes after the appointment time to be seated. As I got into the chair and waited, the gentleman who sat in the chair before me came back into the shop to get something fixed. That didn't give me much confidence going into my haircut. Not to mention that the work station wasn't cleaned off before I wasked asked to sit down. I asked for a 3 on top and a medium skin fade on the sides plus for the hair on the outside of my ears to be cleaned up. The gentleman cutting my hair was very shaky and the clippers used weren't the most gentle as they snagged and pulled on my hair as it was being cut. Not only was my hairline on the sides of my forehead pushed back (also not following the natural line of the hair itself) but it's definitely not even coming up to the 3 on top. The top wasn't even done well as I'm cutting long hairs as I spot them. I asked for my widows peak not to be removed because I look silly with a straight line across my forehead and instead of trimming the hairs, he just left it so I had to trim that when I got home. This haircut was really bad and I don't wish for anyone to receive the service I did. I personally would not get a haircut from Bob ever again and if I'm to be scheduled with him each time I try to make a reservation, I will not be returning.

Excellent cut (temple fade w/ curly top clean up) by Kirk, he was very attentive and caring to my son who has special needs. Best haircut he ever experienced. No wait he got us right in at our appointed time and the price was very reasonable. Ultimate Barber shop was very clean and family friendly. I will definitely be coming back and I Highly recommend this place.

It’s a clean barbershop and the people are nice, but if you are getting your hair cut there I would not recommend going to Bob. He’s very hard of hearing and does not provide reassurance that he understands what you’d like. Additionally, he’s very heavy handed and has no finesse when cutting, you’ll feel the clippers on your head as if his hands are tripping, like when your foot catches a ledge when walking. And lastly, if you try to get his opinion on things he throws his hands up and offers no professional opinion about his work almost as if he knows his quality is not great, and doesn’t want to take responsibility for it. I think his time has come and needs to retire. I would recommend another barbershop.

I'm writing this review for my brother since the Google review request just popped up on my phone. I was outside waiting for him. I thought it would take much longer than it did considering there were others before him. He is very pleased with his cut and the care the barber took with his sensitive skin (tools didn't snag) around the nape of his neck and hairline. I guess he found his barber for when he visits me from out of town.
