Not a happy customer. Been coming to Floyd’s for nearly 6 years. Came today for what I thought was an appointment. My fault I got the dates wrong. My appointment is next week. Asked the receptionist ( who after further research turned out to be a technical manager) if barber had availability to cut my hair since I was there, she said no she was booked. Didn’t even ask the barber to see if she could. I’m going to keep my appointment next Wednesday but not sure if I’ll return after that. No fault of the barber. Her cut is always good. Just the fact she wasn’t asked by someone who is allegedly a manager to see if she could do it. If my loyalty to the barber and shop means nothing, I can find someplace else. That’s not how managers in customer service field manage clients. And additionally insulting, she offered me a lollipop…I’m almost 50.

I have been a couple of times here and I had the best experience, but this time it’s the worst. I showed a picture, but the haircut they did is totally different from the picture. If I wished, I wouldn’t have even paid for it. Totally unsatisfied, I don’t think the lady knew what she was doing.

I went into Floyd’s to get a haircut. When I saw the barber had a facial tattoo depicting a rope tied in a noose on her face, I immediately turned around and left. Based on personal comfort and safety concerns, I chose not to proceed with service. After leaving, I looked at the company website and learned that she is listed as the manager. This raised concerns for me about the standards, image, and environment Floyd’s chooses to present to its customers.

DO NOT book Curtis if you have straight hair. I accompanied my partner for his haircut and we both could tell right off the bat that Curtis didn't know how to cut straight hair. Honestly, should've left right then and there. Back and sides were ok, but the top part and bangs was so messed up, choppy, and extremely uneven. It was so bad, my partner basically had to direct him on what to do to try to salvage it. He also kept chatting when he really just needed to lock in and cut my partner's hair and do it well. He also kept talking about how he gets customers from all over the world - not sure why he kept mentioning that but I think it was to subtly tell us he doesn't know how to cut my partner's hair. Interestingly, I don't think my partner's hair texture is uncommon at all... If the standard for professional barbers is to know how to do a decent fade and work with only one type of hair texture or cut one type of hairstyle, we gotta do better!!

This was my third or fourth visit, and I had been considering making this my regular spot for beard sculpting. My first two visits were very good, and the main reason I came back was because Curtis N. does an excellent job. He is the person who typically trims my beard. Unfortunately, my most recent visit changed my impression. I arrived TEN MIN EARLY for my scheduled appointment, only to be told by the barber that she had another appointment coming soon, even though mine was already booked. Another stylist even pointed out that it was just a quick beard trim and she had time, but she continued to argue that she could not take me. She was not with a client when I arrived and was instead in the back and eventually came out and joked with staff, so it was clear she had plenty of time but still refused to honor the appointment. I left, frustrated, and told myself I would never return. The only reason I ended up rebooking was because Fred does such great work. Experiences like this really take away from the good service that barbers like Curtis provide.

Really great experience. I regained my confidence after coming to this barber shop. I want to give a special thanks to the Asian lady who cut my hair on Sunday I forgot her name. She really did an outstanding job!!!!

I recently visited Floyd’s 99 Barbershop in Alexandria. Virginia. I booked under Curtis N. for a Floyd’s Cut. When I arrived, I noticed that his workstation was completely disorganized and unclean. I told him exactly what I wanted, which was a fade of a 1 guard blended up to a 2 guard. Then, I wanted an inch off of the top of my head and I wanted my bangs to be above my eyebrows. The fade was okay, but the top of hair was choppy and uneven. After what I thought was done, I had to remind him several times to blend the top with the sides. It took him several attempts to correct it, but I was not satisfied with the final results. Please do not book with Curtis N. He is not a barber who does well with straight hair and blending it. And I will not be returning because of this. This business receives a 1 star from me, even though Curtis N. deserves a 0.

Michelle does an amazing job every time. She’s professional, courteous, and truly skilled with the clippers. I’ve been coming to her for fades and beard trims for a while now, and I’ve always walked away happy with the results. Highly recommend her if you’re looking for someone who really knows their craft.

I have been their customer for several years now. Annie T always does my haircut, and she is the best! Annie is very neat and clean. She gently and perfectly cuts the hair that sometimes I want to doze off on the chair :) This place and Annie are highly recommended.
