If you’re rocking a strategically retreating hairline like I am, finding a good barber isn’t optional — it’s survival. That’s how I ended up at Old School Barbershop in the Heights, placing my fragile follicles in the capable hands of Isabella. First off, the vibe? Classic. You half expect someone to be debating baseball from 1947 while a straight razor gets stropped in the background. It smells like aftershave and good decisions. Now let’s talk about Isabella. The woman has the attention to detail of a NASA engineer preparing a launch sequence. She didn’t just cut my hair — she studied the battlefield. She assessed wind patterns. She factored in the slow but steady migration of my hairline northward. At one point I’m pretty sure she tilted my head and squinted like an art critic evaluating a Renaissance painting. And somehow… she made it look intentional. My receding hairline went from “middle-aged panic” to “distinguished gentleman who chooses to look this way.” I walked in looking like I argue with my lawn. I walked out looking like I own property. If you need someone who respects symmetry, understands the delicate diplomacy required at the front of your scalp, and treats every fade like it’s a masterpiece — Isabella is your barber.

Excellent and quick; I arrived 5 minutes late like a jerk, but I was still treated warmly and given a fantastic haircut in record time. Place plays excellent music and has a lovely collection of french prints and framed posters on the walls. I will return (on time).

I just want to start off by saying Antonio thank you so much for fixing my son’s hair. You did an amazing job. TO THE NASTY BUILT OLD LADY THAT I TRUSTED TO CUT MY SONS HAIR- WHEN WE FIRST GOT TO THE ESTABLISHMENT I ASKED YOU IF YOU KNEW HOW TO CUT HAIR AND DO A FADE. YOU LIED, YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO CUT HAIR OR DO A FADE. AND THE NEXT TIME YOU DECIDE TO BE DISRESPECTFUL AND WALK UP ON SOMEONE WITH A BROOM AFTER BEING TOLD IT WAS NOT GOOD YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU DESERVE. We asked that the fade be fixed and waited for Antonio. He was able to fix my sons hair and it came out better than the way the lady left it. She tried to say there was no line and it was a fade but clearly she was wrong. I did not get a before and after picture because i was so upset by the horrible fade that was being passed off as okay. And the attitude and disrespect that came from the lady was very upsetting i tried telling her to stop talking to me but she ended up hearing exactly what she needed to hear. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS A GOOD PLACE TO GO TO BUT DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH THE LADY THAT CLAIMS SHE CAN CUT HAIR! And also we did pay for the hair cut and left a $30 tip for Antonio! $62 was our total! After being told that we could not pay! (By the lady) sorry we were not able to get her name. Also her name is not on the business card.

Old School Barber Shop truly lives up to its name—in the best way possible. They did a phenomenal job taking their time to make sure my haircut looked perfect. You can tell they take real pride in their craft. The hot towel treatment was a great touch, and they even cleaned up the back of my neck with a razor shave—something you don’t see much anymore. It’s that kind of attention to detail that sets them apart. I’ll definitely be back!

Great barber for adult and boy's haircut. They did a great job with my son. They found a haircut that works really well for him. Very reasonable price for the quality of haircut as well.

Marco is simply the best in town. The atmosphere is relaxing and professional. The service you receive is unmatched. He is prepared for your haircut before you get there. He even has drinks for anyone who may want one. I highly recommend him to everyone.

Way better haircut than the chain places. They paid great attention to detail, and did an incredible job with a squirming 3yo! I can't wait for my husband to try it out because I know he will love it!

Took my 3 year old here for a quick cut. Marco was extremely good with a very tough-to-deal-with toddler... and the haircut came out great! He was so proud of his “handsome” new look and couldn’t wait to show his mom and friends back home.

Marco is amazing!! He really took his time and he even came in because when we arrived there was only one stylist. He was here in five minutes and seriously gave me the best haircut I’ve ever had. I wanted a military high and tight - bald fade. The store is clean and Marco even built some of the furniture himself. They even have a hand built checkers game thing that’s pretty cool. 80’s Music is on and everything from the chairs to the service is very relaxing and professional. This was truly a gentleman’s barbershop experience. I’m hooked!
