Henry's is a "throwback" that you have to love. Henry man's the chair, & with 30+ years of clipping he is a master of his craft. If you're looking for hot towels, neck massages & $90 haircuts look elsewhere. If you need a great haircut or beard trim done really well for a reasonable price, this is the place. Nothing fancy, no appointments, cash only. Beard trim is $9.00, haircut $20.00, both for $26.00. Great value & a proprietor worthy of our support.

Place is a pass. Stopped by this morning to support. When I arrived he wasn't in his shop, it was empty. When the barber finally comes from the store next door, I inquired about a hot towel shave. He said, "no, don't do that and walked off." Pretty rude! And isn't the whole charm of an old no frills place like this, things like a hot shave? Because I KNOW he's not giving an amazing line or fade. Sans a hot towel shave, the place is nothing.

I am going to Henry now for around 8 years. The service is great, the price is very competitive, and no appointment needed (just show up). A couple times I tried a “hairstylist” but the received haircut from a "stylist" did not look better according to my judging friends and colleagues.

I tried to save money by cutting my own hair. Between one mirror, a pair of clippers, and 15 minute youtube video I butchered my hair into an indescribable tangled mess of non-Euclidean geometry and disgusting proportions. I went to Henry's who walked me through WHY my hair ended up the way it did and showed me HOW to fix it. I felt that my appointment took longer than most but he charged me his same standard rate. He was able to save my haircut without shaving all my hair off and I feel like I learned something.

Hat sales will skyrocket after coming here. Henry seemed more interested in making borderline racist comments and decrying the state of the barbers he has called to interview (??) than in executing a very simple haircut. I would stay away - while the price point here is on the more affordable end, places like Supercuts etc are equally affordable and likely to give a better haircut than the patchy, unbalanced attempt at a fade I had here. Would avoid.

Been looking for a good barber for 3 years since I moved to Houston. Finally found one. Henry provides great service, actually listens to specifics of what you want, and has the best price in town!

The price for a haircut is the absolute best for the Montrose area as other charge outrageous prices. At this barber shop you get any whiskey, beer or a cigar but you will definitely get a great haircut and some good stories about sports or the history of Houston. If you don't need your hair colored or a perm then go hit up Henry's for a fade or edge up. They are patient and do not rush the person in the chair.

I've been going to Henry's for the better part of 30 years. His prices are and always have been very reasonable, his work is great and I definitely consider him a friend. I love the simple old school shop, a great alternative to those chain "barbers" who just swipe an electric razor over your head a few times and call it done. Henry actually uses a straight razor and takes his time, showing the pride in his work for each client.

Best haircut for the money in the area I've had. Both Henry and Luis have done a great job for me. Considering it is $15 and great quality I will continue to return. Will definitely choose over other local salons that ask you to fork over $50+ after you think you saw the butcher instead.

I have been going to Henry's for over 10 years and won't go anywhere else. It is an old-fashioned barber shop--nothing fancy, but he and his assistant give great haircuts for a very reasonable price. Plenty of free parking. Rarely have to wait more than a few minutes. Highly recommend!!!
