Less about the shop and more about my barber, Amber. She's fantastic and gets my hair right every time. The shop was neat but I imagine it gets unbearably hot near the giant windows in the summer.

Randomly stopped here a year or so ago since I was in the area. Jeff quickly became my barber. And I live out in the east county so the fact that I drive back there for my haircut says something about the shop, and Jeff in particular.

We love this little neighborhood gem. I took my 3 kids today. My 9 year old had so much fun talking to Amber about Minecraft while he had his hair cut and he loved how his haircut came out. My 2 younger kids had great cuts from Irene. This was the first time my 3 year old didn’t cry during a haircut. Irene was great with her!

I’ve had a few haircuts with Jeff and each time has been GREAT! Timely service, nice people, and a haircut that was just what I asked for. 10/10 will be coming back!

I struggle with a double crown and have a hard time finding acceptable barbers every time I’ve moved cities. I got Amber as a walk-in, and now after 2 more visits, and a visit to another (much more expensive) establishment, I will preferentially continue to book him going forward. He also has done a great job with my 5yo son twice, fixing a dodgy cut from a children’s place on one of those occasions. If you want a bourbon with your cut, this is likely not the place for you. But if you want a good cut and are not willing to sit in a chair for an hour waiting for it to happen, Amber is your man. He is literally an artist (no, seriously ask him).

Wow, what can I say about one of the oldest barbershops in America. Ironically, I happened to attend the Rushmore 25th anniversary showing at St. John's the night before where most of the movie was shot, and the next day on the way back home, I asked my partner if she wanted to go back and check out the cool toy store on 11th avenue where we visited a month ago, and she was like "sure" so as we went to park, I noticed a cool looking surf shop, and I wanted to check it out first. So while walking, I passed by an old school barber shop (Doug's Barber Shop) and while looking across the street, I remarked to my lady that man, you know, this kind of looks like it could have been the spot where they filmed Rushmore back in 97, and my God it was!! Walking into Doug's was a trip down memory lane. I grew up in a heavily populated neighborhood, where we had many barbershops around. Doug's has some pics of the actors being filmed at the barbershop, along with many cool nicknacks. The prices are very reasonable in this day and age, especially when these trendy Men's hairshops charge you an arm and a leg for a haircut. I believe a haircut was 23 or 24 dollars, and a straight scalp shave was 40. I will return and get a scalp shave at some point, but the truth is that these guys and gals there could not be anymore friendlier and accommodating when I asked question after question in all my enthusiasm. Check out Doug's website and go there and support a neighborhood institution.

An old cash barber shop. Great service and good work. The shop was in Wes Anderson's Rushmore .” The barbers are good and personable. You can go to any of the local franchise barber shops or come here for Literally a third of the price and get. The real thing. A first choice Update today 9.11.23 I came in for a beard trim great service and result. Short wait. In a shop that is worth a visit alone decorated eclectically with vintage headlines and art along with mad mix of models and signs. Ample parking
