I do NOT recommend this barber school. My husband enrolled at the State Barber School in Arlington, TX, and the experience has been a complete nightmare for our family. When he enrolled, the owner rushed his paperwork and incorrectly added “Sr.” to the end of his last name. This is not on his driver’s license or passport. Because of her error, TDLR has blocked him from taking the state barber exam and told him he must go to court to correct the name issue. This mistake has cost us time, money, and extreme stress. On top of that, my husband went slightly over the required time at the school and was charged double the cost, which he paid in cash. After payment, the owner began ignoring his phone calls. When I called from my number, she answered immediately, which shows she was deliberately avoiding him. When we requested a balance statement so my husband could file his income taxes, it took an unreasonable amount of time to receive it, delaying our tax refund and putting us in a financial bind. The owner also encouraged my husband to cut hair in a shop knowing he was not licensed, which is extremely concerning. This school’s poor management, lack of accountability, and unprofessional conduct have directly harmed our family financially and emotionally. Please be very careful before enrolling here or at any other locations associated with this owner (including Irving, TX).

I stopped in for a haircut while in uniform, and I was blown away by the professionalism and respect. They have veteran barbers in training, which made it an even better experience. You can tell they take pride in their work and really care about every client who sits in their chair. The cut was clean, sharp, and exactly what I asked for. The prices are unbeatable—only $10 for a haircut, and just $15 if you want the face and beard lined up too. You can’t find that level of skill at that price anywhere else. Whether you’re military, a veteran, or just looking for a solid fresh cut, this spot is a hidden gem in Arlington. Highly recommend!

Came on 11-1-2025 at 3:29pm with my special needs kiddo and the doors were locked while barbers are sitting there watching me attempt to open the door. Hours of operation state they close at 4pm. Horrible business ethics!

Had my second haircut with barber, @spiffy_gentz, an energetic and vibrant barber. Sociable, PROFESSIONAL, and ambitious individual. If you’re ever at State Barber and Cosmetology School (Arkansas/Cooper), holler at spiffy_gentz, HE GOT YOU!

The teacher was the one that did my haircut. IT was awful!! He cut all my waves off and messed up my hairline. I will never be back! I probably would have been better off having one of the students do it instead.

Anna did an amazing job with my hair! She took her time to detangle my natural hair, gave me a great shampoo and deep conditioning treatment, and finished with a beautiful straightening style that left my hair feeling amazing. Everyone in the salon was super friendly and helpful, especially Mrs. Debbie and Mrs. Margaret - they made the whole experience even more enjoyable!

Hello DFW, I went to the college today, because my wig was too hot. I was impressed from the time I walked in the door and out. I didn't even have to have an appointment. I had conditioner in my hair and a bag under my wig. She rinsed out the conditioner and put me under the dryer. The student asked me what kind of style that I wanted. I'm a senior citizen, so of course I didn't know. I told her to work her magic, and do what she felt like doing. I had attention from three students at the school. One laid, the hair out, one braided almost to the bend, and the third student finished the braid. Thanks Faith, Grace, and Xiomara. Margaret, their awesome teacher that I have known for 15 years will see me every other month. I have new stylist. You should check them out. The price was reasonable also.❤️❤️❤️

I Love my haircut! My barber( and I never got his name. He was Asian is all I can tell you ) did an excellent job cutting my hair. He took his time and gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had! I was greeted very friendly by staff. I had no appointment but was taken care of right away. Didn't have to wait at all. Atmosphere was great and was a very good experience! 👍 I walked out of there with an extra skip in my step...
