Prohibition Proper is a great local barbershop in a really convenient spot off Murfreesboro Road. Parking is easy and straightforward, which is always a plus in Nashville. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how comfortable and clean the shop is. It is not flashy or over the top. Just a relaxed place where you can sit down and get a good haircut. Pam did an excellent job with my haircut and beard trim. She took her time and it shows in the final result. I much prefer supporting small businesses, with local owners, like this. In my experience the work is better and more personal. I will definitely be back and would recommend Prohibition Proper to anyone looking for a good haircut or beard trim in Nashville.

JD served us on 2/21/26, he is awesome! My son got a beard trim and I got a shape up, we were both pleasantly surprised and pleased considering it was our first time visiting. The shop is quaint, cozy and a ton of cool decor.

I fly all the way from Seattle WA to get my hair cut here! I have been multiple times and it is excellent. I found it while on business in Nashville and it is by far the BEST!!! Atmosphere and cut are a CUT above the rest!!!

2nd haircut and beard trim with Chuck, he’s phenomenal!!! I highly recommend, much attention to detail, a little pricey but what isn’t these days, you get what you pay for!!! More than satisfying!! Hit him up!

Great experience every time. Relaxed barbershop. None of that stuffy nonsense. Good prices. Free alcoholic beverage if you partake in such things. Every hair and beard service you could want. Right off the highway so you can get back to town in a matter of minutes.

I’m giving 3 starts for the vibes. As far as the cut, it is okay. From not completing my hairline, to have a thin side on my mustache. I asked for my eyebrows to be cleaned up, one is now thicker than the other. Cimmarron was my barber, his razors are dull, he gave me services I did not ask for but forgot the ones I did ask for. I paid 60 dollars for a man with one good eye to “ have swing at it” on my head. Also he went live and did not tell me I was being recorded, I let him continue because I get it I am a creator as well, but for future clients, be sure to ask if you’re being recorded. And also I came to the car and looked in the mirror, I’m covered in hair, I realized he didn’t even get the hair off. I went in and asked for the face brush, I his man walked over grabbed a hairdryer. The pictures you see are results of the haircut and hairdryer at the end. You make your decision based on that, you could totally go for the vibes, but at what cost… 60$ and a mediocre cut, with subpar customer service.

Had an amazing experience at Prohibition Proper! My barber Cimmarron was incredibly personable and easy to talk to and I walked out with an amazing cut! The atmosphere was amazing. They played great music and offered drinks to help the vibe even more! Highly recommend this place!

Cimmarron has been cutting my hair for a little over a year now but recently started here about a month ago. I’m always satisfied with his work, hence why I followed him to this new spot for my haircuts lol. Find someone you can trust with your hair! Cimmarron gained a loyal customer ever since my first cut with him at his old location. His attention-to-detail and passion to give you the highest quality cut is what has kept me around. He is extremely skillful and passionate about his work. He is professional yet very personable, welcoming and will listen to what you are wanting in a haircut, and he will deliver the results. I don’t think you’ll regret getting your haircut with him. 10/10 highly recommend Cimmarron to anyone! Lastly, this barbershop is awesome! Everyone is so kind and welcoming. Love the vintage barber shop feel but open to all people!

I had the absolute pleasure of getting a haircut at Prohibition Proper Barbershop in Nashville, and I have to say, this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. My barber, Lorraine, gave me a complete haircut with a low fade and a beard trim, and it was absolutely perfect. She took her time, followed exactly what I wanted, and delivered one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. She was super friendly, talkative, and incredibly respectful, making the entire experience even better. The atmosphere was top-notch, welcoming, and just a great place to be. If you’re a guy looking for a quality haircut, this is a must. You won’t be disappointed.
