Go see Shawn! Had my second appointment with him today, showed him a pic of what I wanted and he was spot on. Great attention to detail!

Been going to see Ryan for almost 5 years now. Never had a negative experience and wouldn’t trust anyone else around my head. Parking is validated so you can park right in front of the shop, never have to wait longer than 5 minutes past your appt time. A truly good local business.

First time customer here. Booked a haircut with Shawn. He paid attention to exactly what I was asking for and delivered a great cut. Will definitely come back my next time in town.

I was really excited to schedule an appointment with John online until it asked me to pay for the whole appointment upfront — asked for a tip as well. What kind of place does this? I have never been asked to pay for a service before it even happens, and the audacity to ask for a tip is crazy to me. Hell to the no!
Owner's response
Yeah, prepay and tipping is an option.<br>Not a reason to leave a local owned business a one star rating. That’s not how this works?

Shawn is an amazing barber and a solid dude. I came in with little to no plan and left feeling confident and sharp. Seriously was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a barbershop.

Had an amazing experience with Shawn at Blackheart! His attention to detail and precision make him a step above the rest. Having a wavy texture to my hair - I’ve had many haircuts that left me disappointed, but now after getting my second cut with Shawn I know he’s consistent and tailors the cut to different styles of hair. A true master of his craft!

Just popped into this spot for a beard trim before a wedding. I think my barbers name was Shawn, and he was absolutely awesome! Super quick beard trim and it looks great!

I’ve been getting my hair cut at Black Heart Barber Salon since I moved to Nashville two years ago, and I can’t imagine going anywhere else. Both Ethan and Derek are true professionals, skilled, attentive, and easy to talk to. They take real pride in their work, and it shows every time I leave the chair feeling my best. I also bring my five year old stepson here for his haircuts, and they’re just as great with kids as they are with adults. He always walks out smiling. Black Heart Barber Salon is simply the best. Great people, super cool atmosphere, and consistently excellent cuts.

I’ve been seeing John for nearly a decade — which, in barber years, makes us basically married. I’ve shared more life milestones in his chair than I have with some blood relatives. He’s watched me age in real time, one slightly receding hairline at a time, and somehow still pretends it’s the lighting. Every visit starts the same: I tell him what I want, and then he gives me what I need — which is apparently the same thing, because I always leave looking like the better-groomed version of the man I meant to be. If therapy had a fade option, it would be called “The John.” He’s a master of conversation, silence, and precision blade work — the holy trinity of barbershop enlightenment. The man could shape a haircut with the quiet confidence of someone defusing a bomb, and still somehow make me laugh about my life choices in the process. If John ever retires, I’ll be forced to just buzz it all off and live in the woods, because no other barber could possibly understand the emotional architecture of my head this well. Highly recommend. But also, don’t steal my appointment slot.

More like Heart of Gold Barber! I am currently going through chemotherapy for breast cancer and I made the decision to shave my head. I had my stylist do the initial shave but since her speciality is cutting and dying long hair, and not shaved heads/fades etc, I looked up the best barber in Nashville. According to Reddit it was Black Heart. I walked in to see if maybe they could clean up my buzz cut and Ethan (bless you Ethan) made time for me between his booked clients since it was a quick fix. It looks SO good and I feel like a sexy badass! He was even able to make the completely bald spots from chemo above my ear look intentional. Which was what I think I was most impressed with! So skilled. I was terrified of a buzz cut, as my hair pre-cancer was super thick and down to my waist. But I feel beyond incredible and so confident!!!! This was my first time stepping into a barber shop, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The space is very chill, great music playlist, and the art in there is wonderful- the bathroom makes for a great selfie background, haha! Thank you so much Ethan, you’re amazing and so kind- and my hair looks so freaking cool!!! 10/10 would recommend Black Hart Barber! 💞 (PS- I’ve included photos of my pre-cancer hair and my post cleaned up buzz cut hair to help whoever’s reading this- if you’re going through chemo and losing your hair, this is your sign to shave it off! You’ll still be beautiful!!! 💕)
