Maclain helped me with my nerves around getting the shortest pixie haircut I’ve ever had and I love it. It really opened my mind to how much more expressive and creative hair can be and they make a safe welcoming atmosphere. Their expertise and experience is obvious when they help guide decisions or make calls based on your face shape.

This is the best barbershop in Portland, hands down. Maclain is a thoughtful and careful hair artist and always does a fabulous job with my cut. They curate a wonderful and supportive vibe, always bring excellent conversation, and I always leave feeling spiffy with my spirits lifted. <3

I had my first trim with Maclain today and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience. I came in with a vague idea of what I wanted, more of things I didn't like about the way my current haircut worked with my natural growth patterns. Maclain patiently worked with my ideas and gave me really great feedback on small modifications which would work even better with my hair. Ended up with an absolutely wonderful haircut that fits my natural patterns as well as anything I've had. Atmosphere was extremely welcoming. Can't recommend enough.

After three years of growing out my hair, I made a brave decision to schedule an appointment with a new provider for a cut. I couldn’t have made a better decision. Maclain was such a phenomenal human throughout the whole service! They greeted me with a smile on their face, took time to look at photos I provided, gave me space to be emotional about my hair, and gave me a spectacular new do! They were thoughtful, insightful, able to make executive decisions when I couldn’t and provided helpful feedback on life conversations. Thanks to Maclain I will be donating 14+ inches of hair and sporting a cut that I love!! 100/10 would recommend!

This place was absolutely amazing. The whole style of the shop and vibe was really cozy. I've had horrible experiences with barbers in the past and was really nervous to get another haircut, but Maclain did Not disappoint. It was very easy to talk to them, and I'm a pretty shy person, so that says a lot. Maclain knew exactly what I wanted, and I was really pleased with the haircut. I cannot tell you how relieved I was to leave this appointment completely satisfied with how good my hair looked. :)

A perfect cut AND world class people to chat with?! Yes please. Super glad to have found this place. Both Mike and Maclain are excellent and after 4 visits I'm firmly locked in at having this be where I'll get the hairs cut for all time.

There are not nearly enough stars on this review for Mike. This shop is stellar. My 11 year old son was worried about going in for a haircut because of sensory issues, a bunch of knots as well as being nervous to get a very important gender affirming haircut. Mike made them feel comfortable, gave them an incredible cut and was overall very encouraging. Thank you, thank you, thank you. These folx are truly the best!

Drew was great!! Good conversation, prompt but not rushed service. Cool ambience and comics etc on walls. Very happy with my haircut and the warm towel on the back of the neck was awesome. The other barber I did not meet but was very chill and professional on the phone when I called. Super nice local guys doing a great job. Thanks again Drew!!!!
