I can honestly say without a doubt Johnny is the best barber I've ever had. He's really the only barber who's cut my hair in a way I actually like and it's such a fun experience hanging out with all the characters you'll meet while you wait. He also gave my son his first hair cut and is really good with kids. My son, now 2, actually tells us he wants to go to the barber. If you want a great cut and a place to meet some old and new Portland locals this is the place, absolutely awesome!

Just found my go to barber for the next 30+ years! Had a Coors light out of the fridge while I waited and then the best haircut I have ever had. If you’re are looking for a new barber, come here :)

Brought my kid in, who was really nervous to get his haircut after years of growing it out. Johnny (and everyone hanging out) was so friendly, it made the experience great for him. And the best part was he loved his cut. We’ll be coming back soon.

UPDATE: This update is about nothing other than saying that since moving to Delaware, the thing I miss most about Portland is my barber. Love you, bud, hope you're well. I haven't gotten a haircut in a year because I don't like how anyone has cut it. If I had money money, I'd fly back just for a haircut. 2 Years ago... Johnny is a good guy who gives great haircuts and conversation! 10/10 Will definitely be back. BTW Cash only, don't make the same mistake I did 🤦♂️

Johnny and I have so much fun verbally riffing when I’m getting my ears lowered. (I really am that dad) The old school barber shop ethos is mixed with a bit of a John Waters aesthetic. This place couldn’t be more up my alley.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ After six weeks since my last haircut, I went to Johnny for the second time - and this experience was even better than before! Johnny's is as close as Portlanders of the 21st century will ever get to Floyd's Barbershop in Mayberry. Johnny offered me a beer and I explained to him how the Vitamin R in a cold can of Rainier has been scientifically proven to reduce stress and social anxiety. We had a great conversation. Another customer arrived while I was in the chair. We started talking and it turned out that we were old acquaintances from 25 years ago. Johnny took a bit longer for this haircut than previously and he did a better job, although the previous haircut was great! My wife likes this haircut even more. I learned that another of my close motorcycle-riding friends goes to Johnny, too! So, this now makes three close friends and an acquaintance who trust Johnny and enjoy the service. Some say that you can have it cheap, or you can have it good, or you can have it fast, but you can't have all three. Johnny's prices are incredibly reasonable but not cheap, his quality of service is excellent, and the time sitting in waiting and the time in the chair is very enjoyable!

Brought my son here yesterday, who never likes haircuts. Johnny made him feel very comfortable, took his time to listen, and gave him exactly what he wanted. They chatted about various shared interests, making it such a pleasant time. My son couldn’t stop talking about it the rest of the day. Thank you so much! We will definitely be back!

Haven't had the barbershop experience in sometime. Wanted to try it out to get ready for my wedding. Loved the atmosphere, locals conversing, fresh beverages and Johnny the barber. Very professional and old school. Great experience
