I got my haircut at the Barber-Q barbershop, at 4136 SE Hawthorne Blvd, on January 2, 2026. I want to let others know about my very positive experience at Barber-Q. I am very happy with both my haircut, and the barbershop itself. First off, it’s not a fancy salon. A good, basic place to get a haircut. Being an older guy, I was looking for a place that wasn’t charging an arm and a leg to cut my hair (I wanted a basic buzz cut). They charge $22 for a buzz that uses one clipper attachment. Great price! I also wanted a place that was very accessible by bus, and this location is right in the heart of the Hawthorn business district. Perfect. I had my hair cut by KimAnh. She was fantastic! She was very professional and skilled in giving me just the haircut I was looking for. After buzzing with the clipper, she took time to carefully trim around my ears and the back of my head. Perfect! I will be going back for a monthly cut. I gave her a nice tip because it was well deserved. I highly recommend Barber-Q barbershop on Hawthorne.

Kim is the best! She’s been cutting my hair for 8 years and I’ll never go elsewhere. I love our conversations and the relationship we’ve built. Thank you Kim :-)

Have been looking for a new barber and I took a chance with Kim. She's been amazing and I won't go anywhere else.

Overpriced for someone who can barely listen and has a photo reference, what's the point of asking questions if your just gonna how you want it not the customers, 15 dollar haircut comes out to 40, ain't about the money it's about the quality, disappointing.

Best cut I’ve personally experienced in town. Haven’t been to many places, but I don’t foresee myself going anywhere else! Really enjoyed it. And definitely looked better walking out than I looked walking in! For the record I’m a white guy with thin hair (less and less every year), getting a fairly traditional cut. Thanks all!

Got my haircut there today, and the haircut came out good! However the woman who cut my hair made it seem like my hair was difficult to cut? She said something like that uneven shaped head or something like that? Not sure if that’s what she said, there may have been some miscommunication there, but if that was in fact the case then, why do you cut hair? 😂😂

I have been seeing Kim at Barber-Q Hawthorne for about 3 years. I receive better fades and tapers here than I did at any other "barber shop" I have went to in my 28 years of life. My haircuts are always consistent. All of the staff is extremely friendly and they are also very considerate of time, and appointments. 1000% recommend. Trust me!

I recieved the worst haircut that has ruined my pixie cut. They cut too high on the crown and now my calick sticks up at a weird angle. They also took out chunks of areas that were supposed to remain long so the back of my head looks very weird. Going to another shop to try to fix it, but I'm probably going to have to shave my head and start growing it all out again. The hairdresser also made me uncomfortable during our conversation when I told them I am not interested in having kids, and they proceeded to continue the conversation even though I had tried to steer the conversation to something else. I will never be visiting this shop again.

For me, I'm looking for a good barber at a decent price over the place in general. The price here is reasonable and 2 out of the 3 women here give me a great cut. They have some soda to choose from but nothing fancy nor any beer. The place is clean but not nice nor cozy. There are no decorations and only a few magazines with little space to sit. There are usually 3 barbers and 3 seats for waiting in this small location. They are usually busy, especially during the busier times of the day. I do walk in and the wait is usually 15 to 30 minutes. They neighborhood is a nice place to walk around if you have to wait long. The 2 barbers that cut my hair are friendly, listen to my simple, typical request, and do a very good job that looks good even as it gets longer. Now with COVID this place does appointments only and has only 1 barber. Obviously no drinks nor magazines. I feel safe here as only 1 barber and 1 customer is in the building at a time and they wipe down their station for each customer and use a throwaway hair bib.

Full disclosure: I didn’t get a haircut, my friend did. A simple buzz. He liked it. Seemed like a good cut. Staff was friendly. A little pricy for me.
