Was looking for a quick trim while visiting NY with my wife. Happened to look this Barber shop and what a treat. Was greeted and taken care very well. Seem as if they have been in business for years and know there locals well. Definitely will come back next time I visit.

My husband has been going here for years for haircuts and beard trims and they always do a great job. I never worry that he’ll end up with a lopsided beard or haircut when he goes here. Highly recommended!

The best barber in Astoria! I only take my son here and he always gets compliments. The staff is super friendly and always is consistent with the haircuts. Look no further just do yourself a favor and come here.

I had the most dreadful barber experience of my life at this establishment! After moving to a new area, I chose this barber for its high ratings and convenient location. Curious about what I would encounter here after being satisfied with my previous barber for so long, I walked into this shop with three barbers and was attended to by the eldest among them. Regrettably, as you can see from the attached photos, the result was atrocious. I honestly believe I could have done a better job blindly snatching at my hair. The entire cut lasted about 20 minutes, which clearly reflects the lack of care taken. As evident in the photos, the cut was uneven, with some areas left long and others cut too short, resulting in a wavy, uneven look across my head. It did not look as natural as well. Furthermore, the back was cut in a manner that did not suit the shape of my head at all, leaving it completely flat. But the subpar cut was not the only issue. The lack of hygiene was appalling – there was no cleaning after customers, and the equipment was not disinfected, being passed from one customer to another without any regard for sanitation. This careless approach to hygiene in such a personal service setting is simply unacceptable. I had to visit another barber the same evening to rectify this disaster, which meant paying for two haircuts in one day. As I mentioned, this was by far the worst barber encounter I've ever had. He should seriously consider retirement or a career change. I refrain from commenting on the other barbers in the shop, but I certainly do not recommend this place. And for the sake of personal hygiene, this place should be avoided at all costs.

They provide everything one should expect from a barber shop. Very welcoming and friendly barbers with walk-ins accepted. Great guys to talk with too while having your cut. Above all else, amazing cuts with great prices. Highly recommend!

I've been going here for years. Great service. Classic, unpretentious barbershop vibe. My only complaint is that their prices have increased a lot in the past couple years but it's hard to fault them for that with the way the neighborhood is gentrifying.

This place is awesome. Got a guys cut for a very reasonable price and the barber who cut my hair was awesome (Nick). He knew exactly what I wanted with very little explanation on my end and did it up professionally. Very friendly. Razor clean up too ++ I almost never leave reviews but really wanted to for this place as they were awesome!

Words barley describe how great Modern Barbershop is... I have been a customer since my first haircut. We now are 3 generations of customers.. This old school feel in this ever evolving neighborhood is a breath of fresh air... How do you pass up on an old school straight shave with a warm towel and facial massage... wow how rejuvenated you feel... Keep up the good work Arthur, nick and MR Benny. You guys are doing great work at keeping Mr. Dominic's legacy well.

Finding a good, classic cut in this area has proven to be difficult for me in the years I've lived here. From the second I walked in, I felt welcome. Bene told me about his near 40 years experience cutting hair and it showed. As a bonus, they are happy to offer you a drink while you wait and before you leave. Bottom Line: I am happy to have finally found the perfect barber shop in my neighborhood.

By far the best Barbershop out there. I have been going there for 10+ years. Now I take my 2 young boys with me, and they are fantastic. I personally use Nick, but everyone in there seems to have there regulars. All of the guys are nice and friendly, it's actually a good time to get a hair cut, old school style. I highly recommend...
