Barbershop Perfection! These guys have the mood, the ambiance, the professionalism, and most importantly the skill. As someone who changes their hairstyle twice a year(and also VERY experimental), I always get what I’m asking for. Skin fades are perfectly blended, hair is always cut to the perfect texture and length. The barbers really put in a real effort to make sure that you get what you’re looking for. These guys take their profession seriously, and it shows in their work. My go-to is Kelvin and I cannot give him enough praise. Not only is he a great barber, but also a good human being. I’ve learned and grown as a person through interactions with him. Always on schedule, cuts your hair exactly how you want, and truly treats you as family. It’s a casual, clean, friendly place with great music and great hospitality. Shops like these build a good community.

These guys are really nice, and do a great job at a fair price. They took a few minutes to ask me what I wanted, gave some suggestions and the guy was incredibly thorough. My hair is thinning so I was nervous to try a new place but they far exceeded my expectations. For under $30. Definitely recommend.

Went to this barbershop last minute since my barber didn’t have any appointment available. From the moment I walked in, I had a bad vibe. No greetings from any of the barbers and when I said I needed a cut, I got no reply. Few minutes later free barber was sweeping the floor instead of helping me. I asked if he can cut my hair and finally got a seat for my turn. On top of it all, I got the worst haircut of my life. Save your money and time instead of going here. 45$ for a cut and what a waste!

Owner's response

I’m sorry for your experience, my apologies, if you could give me the opportunity to make it up to you. It would be my honor. My name is kelvin

Kelvin is in a league of his own. Best barber on Long Island, hands down. BUT any barber at the Standard is master class. I would suggest making an appointment as walk in can be hit or miss. Ive done walk in twice cause Kel sd heculr was jammed. I got lucky ig, was solid cut, Ye!

Owner's response

Then you for the review, we definitely appreciate you Bobby.

I've been living in the United States for about two years, and I've tried out like 8 or 9 different barbershops. But none of them could give me the haircut I wanted, until I found The Standard Barbershop. All the barbers there seemed really skilled, but Kelvin, the guy who cut my hair, really listened to what I wanted and nailed it. Plus, the place was super clean and amazing, unlike any other barbershops I've been to. The Standard Barbershop is definitely worth recommending. Great haircut, attentive service, and a clean environment. it ticks all the boxes!

I highly recommend this barbershop. I’ve been going there for a few years and have always had a great experience. The staff is friendly, professional, and welcoming. The shop is always clean and well maintained. I personally go to Kelvin, but I always see folks walking out of there looking sharp from every other barber. They have cultivated a great space for someone to get a great cut… a true gem in the neighborhood!

Terrible experience. Walked in there was no customers. The babrber unevenly faded my hair and on top of that pushed my hairline back a quarter inch. On top of that he cut me multiple times with the buzzer and it took 4 days to heal. Changed his price first said 25 and when I asked for change he gave back 5 dollars and said it was 35. Run away and go somewhere else.

Owner's response

I’m sorry about your experience, hopefully we can make it up to you. My apologies. We would cut you at no charge, we would love to make it up to you.

Edit: I’m changing my review from five stars to four because of the inconsistencies I’ve encountered. My first two visits to The Standard were fantastic. It felt like a level above your standard barber shop experience. My last two visits were average. It seems like each barber has his own interpretation of what a $35-$40 haircut should be. I discovered The Standard by way of a happy accident. I needed a haircut and didn’t have time to drive to my usual barber shop, so I decided to go local. The first three shops that I visited were either closed or only taking appointments. The fourth shop could’ve accommodated me, but after watching one of the barbers projectile sneeze out into the open air, I chose to leave. Google Maps lead me to The Standard. I was immediately greeted by a barber named Radhames, who was available to immediately cut it hair. I opted to go for the haircut and shave combination ($35), which was a bit out of my normal haircut price range, but I’m a firm believer that we need to treat ourselves from time to time. Plus, if you want quality, sometimes you have to pay more. The experience was great. I felt like I wasn’t being rushed out of the chair, and the conversation was light. I’ve returned to The Standard once more since my inaugural visit and the experience was equally pleasant. I don’t know if my budget will allow The Standard to become my new go to barber shop, but if money wasn’t part of the equation I’d have a running appointment every other week. Oh, and The Standard doesn’t charge extra for making an appointment, which is nice.

I highly recommend this barber shop if you're in need of a new barber or just moved into the area. They are very professional, clean, and do a great job. They are all friendly people too. I've been going to Kelvin Torres for 6-7 years now and he does an awesome job every time. All of the barbers there do great work and they take their time on your hair to make sure it comes out good. If you do give them a try, I recommend trying to call and make an appointment ahead of time because they do have a good amount of customers. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I’ve been coming to this barbershop since it opened and have been using the same barber (Luis) for close to 10 years. Very clean and professional staff and they give great haircuts. I wouldn’t go anywhere else or let anyone else cut my hair. If you’re looking for a good place, come here, you will not be disappointed. Luis, Kelvin, and all of the guys there are excellent barbers.
