In November of 2025, I drove past the barbershop and then called to make an appointment. Scheduling the appointment went well but the actual haircut was a disaster. Issues: The back half of the haircut (from the ears backward) was longer that the front of the cut. I requested to have my hair lined up in the back and when I got home, I was bewildered but how poorly and uneven the back looked. I then remembered that I wasn't given a mirror before I got up from the barber chair so I could see the result of the haircut.

Owner's response

This is unacceptable. Come back to the shop and we will remedy the situation immediately. Please contact me directly 908-338-0442

My barber Jessie has been cutting my hair here for a year now. He never nicks me. Low fades come out perfect! An excellent place to go for men or women. This isn't a rowdy barbershop and I feel safe here.

The experience was a embarrassment I brought my 3yr old for a cut to have to be subjected to the Barbers having a discussion about over weight woman as I & another Mom sat there being embarrassed in front of our children will never refer any one to patronize this shop 😔 Shame on you ! Owner be advised of the conduct of your employees in your absence

I was a walk-in with my 14 year old son yesterday 1/27/24. We were greeted by LT, who cut my son's hair. Fortunately, we had great timing as LT was able to fit my son in before his next appointment. I left my son there to continue my errands. Later, my son reported liking his haircut and feeling comfortable with the barber and the shop. I think we may have found his new barbershop, especially since it is in walking distance from our home.

Don’t waste your time. Came in for a pre-scheduled appointment with email confirmation and it wasn’t honored. Really left me in a jam when they attempted to reroute me to the most inexperienced barber at the shop over an hour and a half after my appointment. I read a different one star review while I sat and waited for over an hour. The reviewer mentioned Omega in east orange. I called and ended up there and at Omega I had a much better experience. They saw me right away and I was able to make my appointment with an excellent hair cut. Thank you Omega Barbershop. Shame on you 8 to 8 barbershop.

My son had picture day and his normal barber at another barber shop closed. Panicking I took my son just for a simple shape up. I felt so bad when I saw my son this barber botched his hair so bad. Didn’t even fade his hair in the back and did such a terrible job. Not only that he practically chopped all of my sons curls! A years worth of growth gone! I don’t even want to mention the hairline it was pushed back and made a circular shape. My 13 looked at me so upset that I made a rash move to take him there. I don’t blame, I sent him to school late the following day to his normal barber to fix his hair. Jermaine was the gentleman that cut his hair and I should’ve known something was wrong when he cut a full head of hair in 25 minutes. I wish he would’ve told me he didn’t have experience with my sons hair texture because he literally chopped all of my sons hair off and left bald spots and a patch of hair like a mushroom top. We will never ever return. If you’re looking for good barbers, with a clean shop go to Steel McCleans in south orange—they’re experienced with all hair textures and only hire the most talented.

Owner's response

I apologize sincerely for the service failure that you experienced, this is not an overall indication of what our shop is. Please allow me the opportunity to make everything right with you & your son. Contact me directly at 908-338-0442 we can speak and work something out.

I went as a walk-in customer and after my cut I setup an appointment for the following week and was told that I was confirmed for 10am. But the next week when I arrived I was told that since I didn’t have an appointment that the barber couldn’t serve me and I should come back at 3 pm if I want a cut. I was pretty upset at the fact that I planned my day and it meant absolutely nothing to him and he made it seem like I was at his mercy. I left the place very upset and ended up finding another barber at a place called OMEGA BARBERSHOP in east orange who by the way did an amazing job and will go to him from now on. In closing I would like to add that I love supporting small businesses but when they don’t value me as a customer their is absolutely no way that I would go back or recommend anybody else to go either. I gave them 1 star but if I could I would give them -20 stars.

I took my 5 year old for a cut with a shape up. The barber pushed my son’s hairline too far back and the sides weren’t even. When I pointed out what he did, he said that he followed my son’s hairline. I take my son all the time, so I know how it should look. I normally go to another shop, but since he was on vacation I decided to give another black owned shop a chance, never again. The guy was very nonchalant about it. If you cannot cut a child’s hair properly then don’t bother. I take pictures of my son’s haircut every time, so that I know the difference and I compared his last cut to the one he received today and it’s not even close to perfection.

I made my second appointment to get a haircut with Chris recently. I was reminded immediately why I enjoyed my first experience so much I had to come back! The door remains locked so that one of the barbers can come to the door to take your temperature. Masks and gloves are worn by everyone present, and I am seated immediately for my appointment. Chris asks me if I'm really gonna do the big chop today, cutting 15-20 inches of hair and taking my undercut up to a high fade. After setting me up, I received the best haircut I've ever had. Chris took his time and checked with me every step of the way to make sure I was comfortable with the length of hair he was leaving for me. At the end of the haircut I was so happy with the care and quality of my lineup, my actual hair's length, the way Chris styled it for me. I would highly recommend him to the public, but I urge you to try any of the other barber's as well. Everyone I've observed in 8 to 8 is very clean and professional with their clients and provides a great service. Also, the price is incredibly low for the level of care given to all of the client's at this barber shop.

Great Customer Service! I've been taking my teen boys here for about a year. I learned about this place when I was shopping in a mall and saw a young man with a very nice haircut. Because I was shopping around for a new barber for my sons, I asked which barbershop did he go to. Damon, the owner, and the other barbers (there are around 4 others, but it fluctuates) are very nice. Damon cuts my boys' hair and they love it each time. Damon can do all sorts of cut styles, which is what young men like, but I've seen all ages come here for services and they continue to come. I also love that the shop offers a reward for repeat customers. After 10 haircuts the next haircut is free! What a great way to run a business. This place is about a half hour drive from my house, but I will continue to be a customer.
