I’m from Lansing and was in the area for work / to visit family, so I decided to stop by The Laboratory Barbershop for a haircut. Before I could even get in the chair, I realized I had locked my keys in my car. I was already stressed out since I was late, but everyone there immediately stepped in to help. They were willing to call roadside assistance for me and made sure I was okay. Just the fact that they offered without hesitation says a lot about this barbershop and the people who work there. You can tell they genuinely care about people, not just about getting customers in and out. Very nice people, professional atmosphere, and great energy overall. Even though I came in for a haircut, I left impressed by their character. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in the area.

Jake has been cutting my son's hair for months now. My son is trying to figure out his style and Jake has been amazing during all the different requests from one week to another. He has great attention to detail and my son's hair looks great when we leave. He has also taken care of my husband: straight razor shave, beard, eye brows. Highly recommend.

I’ve been going to Jake for almost a year now. He’s a young dude, but he cuts better than most barbers who’ve been in the game 30+ years. Jake cuts me and my two boys (3 and 4), and anyone with kids knows how hard it is to get them use to clippers — let alone sit still. Somehow, he gets them right every single time. I always get compliments on my fade after I leave. I definitely recommend Jake Blends and The Laboratory Barbershop as a whole. It’s a clean, family-friendly environment. All the guys in there are experienced and make you feel like you’re part of the family.

SO HAPPY! They did SUCH a good job with both of my son’s haircuts. My 11 year old is so happy with his haircut-they actually listened to what he wanted and cut/styled it to his liking whereas others is the past have just pretty much cut it the same but shorter regardless. They also did my extremely stubborn 3 year old who is incapable of sitting still-he was sooo patient with him, let him stand, move around, etc. I had zero expectations for my toddlers cut, seeing as anything would be better than what he had but they beyond exceeded my expectations. We have officially found our new barbershop 😊💈💇

I have not been able to setup appointments for months now anywhere so I recently tried this barbershop because they have walkin availability with no wait. Both times I got cut has been great. I had a seperate barber each visit, both barbers spent a lot of time on hooking me up with a great fade!!! Highly recommend, the pricing is great also. I feel some of these barbershops have gotten outta control charging $60 a cut when they haven't even been through barber school yet. Don't get me wrong if I get an absolutely perfect cut with a face, head massage, hot towel treatment, and it takes 2 hrs then I completely understand as I am a plumber. So I get it when people say you get what you pay for.

I took my boys there for a haircut and Sal & Manny did an excellent job. Both barbers were good with scissors as well as they took their time to fade with precision. Highly recommend.

I’ve been going to the Lab for awhile and I always love my fresh cut! Jake does a great job and I would definitely recommend him! It’s a very cool and chill atmosphere and it’s great place to relax! Once again ask for Jake when you walk in!

My 5 year old son has only had a few hair cuts his whole life bc I love his long hair, but he asked for a Mohawk with a spiderweb design on the side and I will say they CRUSHED IT!! I’m sorry I forget the barbers name, but he was so focused and worked good with my son. The design is out of this world! What we loved most was when we got to the shop they had normal shop music and sure it had profanities in it, but without even saying a word or us complaining they turned the music off with a kid there and they even had other customers. If I could give 10 stars I absolutely would! We will 100% be going back there from now on!!

Well I just found this place. I've been going to another barber for 30 years and they have closed. I found this one just doing a Google search. My barber was great. He did a better job than my last person so I will be coming back. They are cash only but do have an ATM on site. Appointments can be made, walk-ins are welcome
