Boy this place has gone down hill. Went to have my head saved with a nunber 1 razor. The guy kills the top of my head, misses hair in the back, gets in to a pushing match with the barber in the chair next to him (I'm not kidding, "You stay on your mat, I'll stay on mine"), then pours some much crap on my head that goes strait down my back that I have to demand a towel to wipe the crap off. They need to beathalize these guys before they work here.

Mohamed gives me haircuts which my wife and I both like! He is both meticulous and courteous, so I recommend him to everyone.

I’m always nervous going to a new place because for some reason a lot of people don’t know how to cut long hair/ only know how to do fades. Normally I go to Andre hair salon which does a great job and is cheaper (go there instead), but it was closed. I asked for no more than an inch off my hair as I prefer my hair long. He proceeded to cut perhaps 4 inches off of my hair. He was also super rough with my head and seemed quite impatient. He also ONLY cut in straight lines. I have curtains hair and it doesn’t even curtain anymore lmao. I’ll be wearing a hat for a couple weeks. I’ve attached the before and after photos as well as the sample photo I gave him of my last cut. Afterwards he said “it looks just like the photo you gave!” Since these people get a lot of similar reviews, perhaps they should require each of them to measuring stick at their chair. Also the proper etiquette of a barber shop, and they do this at places far cheaper, is to cut some off and then ask if the client wants more off after that. He started the second round of cutting before I could say anything, and by then it was too late. Considering this place has been getting the EXACT same bad review of cutting too short over and over, it seems they haven’t done much at all to address the issue. Additionally, after reading their reviews, they consistently respond to customers saying that they are wrong or even being “hateful” citing that their owner is a nice 90 year old man. Perhaps to prevent more “hateful” reviews. The nice owner should sit down with each of the workers and tell them to only cut a bit off at a time. Or they should all spend their time studying the ruler.

I don’t often give weight to online reviews, so I didn’t for this barber shop. I am filled deeply with regret. Unfortauntely the reviews are true, they 1) don’t listen to what you ask of them and give you whatever haircut they feel is right. 2) Were weirdly mean, not only to me, but I could hear them speaking about other customers. The haircut they gave me was nice though. If you are into being degraded and humiliated, I guess this is the place for you? Won’t be coming back.

Showed up on time for my appointment with a specific barner, but he no showed. Another guy told me he'd take me. After waiting 10 minutes for him he took a walk-in who literally just walked in and left me waiting further. I waited another 5 minutes while a free barber cleaned her station and the started playing around on her smartphone. I left. What rude staff. They clearly don't need the business.

I used to like this place but it got much worse over time and they lost their good barbers. Now they either don't listen to you or they are simply not competent enough to execute what you asked for. On top of that they got pretty rude and expensive. Never go there anymore. Especially avoid the muscular guy with gray hair and tattoos. He is both rude and incompetent.

Don’t go here. Terrible service, very expensive now. They’ve given me some very bad haircuts, to the point of being incompetent. Sometimes they try to do what you ask for, and other times they just do whatever they feel like. The staff is also very rude at times. I had a particularly bad experience with Andrew. He was very rude and patronizing, and gave me a haircut so bad, I am still trying to grow it out months later. Rei is hit-or-miss. If you just want a simple haircut, go to André hair salon a couple blocks down on Mass Ave.

Worst haircut of my life. Came here before and hated the haircut. Decided to try again but with someone else. Worst experience possible. I have wavy hair and she simply took the volume out of it — the whole thing. I felt like a poodle when they get shaved. I even showed a photo of what I wanted and she butchered my hair in a way that I simply can’t even recognize myself in the mirror. I wanted to cry. I still do.

Today was my first and last visit to La Flamme. I agreed on $25 for a 5 minute bald guy haircut which is $5 more than I usually pay. Once he had me in his clutches, the barber painfully dug into my scalp numerous time. He flipped my ear back and forth with the clippers, skimmed over numerous parts of my scalp and wore a sadistic grin most of the time. I was glad when he was finished and opted not to have him apply his lotions after the cut. Needless to say, I won't be returning. Although the haircut was good, the "in store experience" was bitterly painful.

Stopped by this shop while in town for a conference. I'm a 49 year old military veteran and this is one of the top five high fades I've ever had. Excellent service, atmosphere and history in those chairs. Thanks for a great experience.
