The staff at the Brookline Barbershop provide excellent service. For instance, Izzy demonstrated patience and resolve to help me to get my preferred haircut. The wait times are sometimes long, but it’s because they are so well liked.

I go to Bob every time he is incredibly detailed and he constantly ensures that I am satisfied with the haircut. Highly highly recommend. If you can’t get him, everyone in that shop is on the same level.

I had a mixed experience. The haircut itself turned out okay overall, but the attitude and professionalism really ruined it. Throughout the cut, the barber repeatedly complained that I was moving and blamed uneven sections on that, even though I was sitting completely still (the person with me confirmed this). It felt like he was shifting responsibility for mistakes onto me. He was largely also uncommunicative the entire time except to complain, making the experience uncomfortable. At one point, the neck strip fell off when he used the hair dryer, and instead of replacing it, he continued cutting. A lot of hair fell down my neck, leaving my skin extremely itchy and irritated for hours afterward. He also kept pushing the fade higher while correcting mistakes, resulting in the side being much shorter than expected. At checkout, I was charged $35 despite being told $30 the day before. After asking for the owner, I was refunded $5 and told there was an extra charge for a skin fade — which should have been communicated beforehand. While I may have simply had a bad experience with one barber (as there were multiple in the shop), the contrast between my visit and the many positive reviews was surprising and disappointing.

Thank you so much for your review — we’re really glad you were happy with your haircut 🙏

Just to clarify, the regular haircut is $30, but a skin fade is $35 due to the extra detail involved. I personally asked the barber to refund you the $5 difference, which was done. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
best haircut I've gotten in a while, had hair almost down to my butt and got trimmed up to a men's medium length. got walked through the process and asked repeatedly my thoughts on where the cut was going. will definitely be back and couldn't recommend enough

I saw a lot of great reviews on this place and decided to come visit. This barbershop is the best, it is very clean and they gave me a hot neck shave which a lot of places do not do. The barbers are very nice and the prices are the best. They accepted me as a walk ins although they provide appointments as well. I highly recommend for everyone to try it.

Took my boyfriend here for a haircut! Wanted to keep his hair nice and layered but just out of his eyes and it turned out amazing! The barber was so kind and attentive! He asked for my opinion every step of the way to make sure I like the hair cut and was so fun to talk with! 10/10 would recommend bringing your boyfriend here for a great hair cut at a really good price!!
Owner's response

We truly appreciate the recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back again!

Great experience in an old school barber shop, with old school chairs that have leather straight razor straps hooked on them. Izzy is the owner who take care of my dad. He was helpful, friendly, professional and confident. He listened to exactly what he wanted and executed flawlessly. He shaved his head and shaped up his beard with a straight razor, trimmed his beard and did some of the male grooming things guys need when hair start getting unruly in unwanted places. Izzy even put hot towel wraps on his face and head. The shop is inside the Coolidge Corner Arcade Building — knowing the actual building number is helpful (318) because the barber shop isn’t visible from the street. Give them a shot. The reviews aren’t just hype, they’re really that good. Thanks, Izzy!!
