Great spot, Ahmed did an incredible job with a fade and has great conversations. Highly recommend uni barber Boston.

Guy with a long beard did not know the difference between a fade and a taper. When I asked him if he could fade it in better he got agitated and proceeded to get offended stating “I know how to do haircuts for this many years!” Complete childish behavior. No wonder the place was empty. Go literally anywhere else.

Hi Ben — we’re sorry to hear this was your experience.

At University Barber Shop, we take pride in the quality of our fades and tapers, and we always want our clients to feel comfortable giving feedback during a haircut. Clear communication matters, and we appreciate when customers speak up.

What you described doesn’t reflect the standard we aim to maintain. We’d welcome the opportunity to make it right.

We value every client and are committed to improving every day.

— University Barber Shop
I can only echo what others have already said… decent haircut but very rude attitude that’s uncalled for. The first time I went to get a haircut, the long beard barber kept asking what trim number I want in a condescending manner. He was pushy and not trying to help at all. I try to be considerate and I still went to the barber shop a few times after that because I thought he might just be in a bad mood and I didn’t want to judge someone just for a one time experience . But it turns out that he’s just simply rude for no reason, EVERY TIME I visited he had the same condescending and rude attitude like I did something wrong. So even though the haircut was decent, I decided not to visit this barber shop anymore because the attitude is just horrible and unnecessary.

Thank you for taking the time to share this.

We’re glad you felt the haircut itself was decent, but we’re genuinely disappointed to hear about your experience with attitude and communication. That’s not the experience we want anyone to have at our shop.

Our goal is for every customer to feel respected, comfortable, and helped — especially when discussing details like guard numbers or style preferences. Haircuts should feel collaborative, not uncomfortable.

We take feedback like this seriously and will be addressing it internally. If you’d be open to it, we’d appreciate the opportunity to give you a better experience in the future.

— University Barber Shop
Decent haircut for an affordable price of 30 + 5 (tip). Better than what you get at most chain haircut spots, but keep in mind it’s only 30. Would be back and would recommend at the price point!

I have been to countless barbershops across the world, from New York to Paris, but nothing quite compares to the experience I had at this extraordinary barber shop. Without hesitation, I can confidently say this place deserves five stars— it’s truly the best of the best. What initially drew me in was the reputation this shop holds for its precision, style, and attention to detail, especially when it comes to beard trims. Coming from a country where beard grooming is an art steeped in tradition — where every stroke of the razor is almost ritualistic — I had certain expectations. But this barber shop didn’t just meet them; it exceeded them in ways I hadn’t imagined possible. Back home, beard trims are a meticulous process usually done with straight razors and hot towels, emphasizing softness and a very natural finish. The barbers I grew up with prioritized subtlety — shaping the beard in a way that enhanced the natural contours without making it look “too done.” It was about comfort and understated style, something many of us preferred for daily wear. Here, however, I experienced a level of craftsmanship and innovation that blended traditional techniques with modern flair. The barbers are not just technicians but true artists. Their approach to beard trims is highly personalized; they don’t just follow a template but take into account your facial structure, hair growth patterns, and personal style preferences. The use of high-quality tools — from precision trimmers to exquisite straight razors — combined with their expert hands, produces results that are both clean and effortlessly stylish. One thing that stood out was their meticulous edge work. Unlike the softer, more blended approach I was used to, their trims had a bold yet elegant definition that gave my beard a striking shape without appearing harsh. The careful detailing around the cheek lines and neckline was flawless, setting a standard I hadn’t seen before. They also incorporated beard conditioning and finishing treatments that left my beard feeling silky and healthy — something rarely emphasized back home. What truly impressed me was how seamlessly the barbers could tailor the trim to reflect both classic and contemporary aesthetics. Whether I wanted a rugged, masculine look reminiscent of traditional styles or a sleek, trendy beard shape popular in urban fashion, they nailed it every time. The consultations before the trims felt genuine, and I never once felt rushed or treated like just another appointment. Beyond the technical skill, the atmosphere and customer service elevated the entire experience. The shop itself is impeccably clean and stylish, with an ambiance that balances old-school charm and modern luxury. The staff greeted me warmly, creating a friendly environment that felt more like visiting a trusted friend than a business. In conclusion, this barber shop sets the gold standard for beard grooming. If you’re someone who values precision, artistry, and a truly personalized experience, look no further. Their beard trims are a cut above anything I’ve experienced — they honor tradition while embracing innovation. For anyone moving from another country or used to a different style, this shop will not only meet your expectations but transform your entire perception of what a beard trim can be. Five stars all the way — the best beard trim I’ve ever had, hands down.

I’d say it was like a 4.4 out of five. It was convenient to walk into, the haircut was ok (but not great), the price was fine, and the staff was nice. I was surprised there wasn’t a straight razor for the neckline. That would have easily made it a 5 star. Not sure if that is a Boston thing or just this place but that seems like the norm for true barber shops when I’m from.

I’ve been going to University Barbershop for over 25 years. They continue to carry on a traditional and professional barbershop atmosphere. The staff is courteous and efficient. It’s very evident to me that my barber there genuinely cares about my haircut and I honestly plan on going to University Barbershop until I no longer have any hair on my head. Hopefully that’s a long time. 🤞
