I got a haircut with Dee after all the great reviews and left so disappointed and sad about how ugly my haircut was. The layers look like it’s been bitten by a dog, they are not natural, or smooth at all. And she couldn’t really understand or communicate in English what she meant and I’m not sure if she understands me. She did offer to have the owner fix it but I’ve lost confidence in this place. Doesn’t seem like they know what they are doing with women’s hair

I got my haircut from Dee and asked for a high fade. She was both skillful and pleasant to talk to. Dee listened carefully to what I wanted and offered helpful suggestions without being pushy. She also made sure I was completely satisfied by offering to incrementally adjust my haircut if I wanted it shorter. Overall, the haircut was excellent and looked far more professional than what I've received elsewhere in this price range. Dee took her time and never rushed through the process. I also really enjoyed our conversation. She shared interesting stories about her background and was equally great at listening. I left feeling confident and well taken care of. I would definitely come back again and highly recommend Dee to anyone looking for a quality haircut and great experience!

I had my haircut with Dee, and she was so so wonderful! She was so gentle, sweet, thorough, and did my hair so so spectacularly! I've never had anyone put so much care and work into blowing my hair out, haha :] I plan to come back again for my next haircut, and would recommend you book with Dee as well, especially if you have Asian hair (I'm Japanese).

Had an amazing experience with Elle today! He not only gave me a service, but put a lot of dedication and detail into it which created a memorable experience. His attentiveness and care to his work made me feel very trusting of him and I will absolutely be back for my next haircut. Thank you so much Elle!

Elle was a great barber and stylist with lots of energy. They did a great job using the reference photo provided and communicated well during the service. Received a lovely mid-part with a mid-taper fade on asian hair.

Elle did an absolutely fantastic job on my hair. I had a picture of what I wanted, and Elle knew right away how to execute it. Great service, impeccable haircut including wash and style for less than you'd pay at comparable salons. Thanks Elle!

I am beyond furious with my experience at Street Salon on Newbury Street! I went in with a clear vision for my hair and specifically told the barber no more than a 2 on the sides and a trim on the top in the area where it was uneven. He (Elle)completely ignored me and decided to do whatever he felt like! Who does he think he is, telling me that my hairstyle "didn't suit me" and that I need to "be more mature" a COMPLETELY unprofessional statement to make while I was in his hands. After he completely shaved the back of my type 3A hair he used gel to slick back my hair... I'm an educated working professional, and I deserve to be treated with respect, not condescension! It's painfully obvious that this barber has ZERO understanding of textured hair and absolutely NO business working in a salon. His lack of social awareness and professionalism is appalling. I left feeling angry and disrespected, and I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone who values their hair or their dignity. Avoid this salon at all costs! Not to mention the fact that they have a 25% tip minimum no option for custom tip... 0/10 I will never be returning and will spread the word that this barber has no credibility. I will be reporting to the State of Massachusetts DOL so this person may not continue to ruin peoples identities.

You had an appointment at this salon under a different name. Very sorry for your experience, and the owner typically offers an unsatisfied customer the opportunity to correct or improve the cut they received with him directly, but in this case he will not do that because of the profane message sent through the booking reservation system by you. The POS customer interface you used for payment does indeed have the option to elect no tipping. The tip will be refunded. Looking into reporting this review to Google for additional action.

The best hairdresser and barber in whole of Cambridge and Boston. I moved to Boston in 2022 and since have been to numerous hairdressers, always leaving disappointed. Street Salon & Barber Shop is a rare find. I booked my first appointment with Nick and since only have my hair cut by him. He listens carefully to what I want and pays incredible attention to detail. I always leave exactly with the hairstyle I came for. Moreover, he also truly understands customer experience. Conversations with him are always interesting and entertaining, but he never forces them on me. Nick is the only hairdresser I’ve been to whom I happily tip. I can‘t recommend him enough.

after my friend recommended street salon & barber shop, i never went anywhere else! when i go to street salon & barber shop, i meet with Master Seng because he always does an amazing job. not only does he give me a great cut, but he does it with care and creates a welcoming environment through small talk. street salon & barber shop is the best
