The staff is knowledgeable. They give great hair cuts. They are a bit shrewd. My hours make it difficult for me to get hair cuts during the times they operate. They claim appointments can be made in advance, and they claim they are open on Sundays. They also love to tell people to make appointments online. That's possible to do for making apointments Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Basically, the days when it's not possible for me to get there. However, the story I get from the staff time and again is they are open from noon to 4 on Sundays for walk-ins. Their website will not allow me to make appointments for Sundays or for Mondays, which are pretty much the days when I have availability. I've called multiple times to make appointments for Sundays, and the response over the phone when they take my call is, "please make an appointment online." Attempts have been made also to make appointments a week and a half to 2 weeks in advance, either over the phone or from their website. This has also proven to be a Heraclean effort, and the response over the phone is, "we do not schedule more than a week in advance". This is a bit of a bummer. I've gone to barber shops owned by people who are older and less tech savvy, but are gracious enough with their time I can schedule a time to get my hair cut whether over the phone or online with little issue. Heck, I've gotten good hair cuts at barber shops from people who don't speak English as their first language, who could still make time to give me a decent hair cut. Perhaps I need to take my money elsewhere.

Great spot for a haircut, started taking my son here recently who is scared of haircuts (he's 4) and they made him feel right at home. Gave him a lollipop and got him to sit still the entire time, when it was my turn for a cut my son was able to play with the sweet and playful dogs they have in the shop. They're also well priced, if you look at a lot of the places around the area a haircut for a man costs 50$ and up before tip, these two keep it reasonable and provide as good of service if not better that the over priced "mens saloons" in the area. They take walk in and appointment, give them a call. You wont he disappointed in your haircut!

Joanne gives a great cut every time! The barbershop as a whole has a great vibe. Everyone greets you when you walk in, including furry friends. They usually have dogs with them, and if you’re lucky, you may have the little one ask to jump on your lap, lol. Amplify is my go to barbershop in contra costa county. I’ll be a repeat customer until I lose my hair 🤣

This is in response to the review my husband left, which Joanne replied to, and then deleted. I assume because her reply was so contradictory (were you so focused on giving the previous customer a great haircut, or were you watching the entire interaction between your dogs, husband, and my small children?) and she was embarrassed by both her and her husbands behavior. We took in my son for his first haircut appointment. And the small dog immediately started barking at both my kids (4&1), the owner tried to control the dog, but unsuccessfully, because the dog ended up jumping and climbing on top of us and nipping my 4 year old in the side as we were just sitting on the couch. The owner DID know this happened, because he immediately took the dog away to the back when my daughter started crying. Even saying “he’s doing his barking thing again” - indicating this wasn’t the first time the dog has misbehaved with customers. He then, rather than apologize, asked her condescendingly if she was in a bad mood, essentially gaslighting a child. We did not know she received a bruise from this until we got home because it occurred beneath clothing. The haircut itself was fine, it was the experience that was terrible.

I just visited Amplify Barber Shop in Walnut Creek today for a great haircut, as usual. I have been going here for over 6 years. I love the owner and his wife, Alan and Joanne. They treat you like family and give the best haircuts and customer service I’ve ever experienced in a barber shop or any other business. Alan started cutting my son’s hair at 1 year old and today, Alan gave him a great cut! I love the family environment in the barber shop and my family and I love the fact that Alan and Joanne bring their dogs (some of their four legged family to work)! Their dogs are some of the most behaved dogs I’ve ever encountered! My 3 year old son loves going to Amplify Barber Shop to see Alan and Joanne and especially play with the super friendly dogs that welcome you at the door!! Here is a photo of one of their extremely friendly dogs on my son’s lap today while Alan gave him an excellent haircut/experience!! If you need a great barber, go to Alan and Joanne’s shop with super friendly William!! - Ryan (Customer for life, so is my son)!!

I would reply to another post, but I'd probably hurt some parents feeling. Excellent shop with amazing people that care about not only their wirk, but their clientele as well. I've never had a bad experience and always leave happy and looking far better than when I came in. I value this shop and view them not just as friends but family. The dogs are a plus, they all come to say hello, then go back and lay down. Pepe is my buddy and lays on my lap during my hair cut, he's awesome.

What an amazing Barber Shop! The best haircut my son has ever had (William, you’re a rockstar!). As fantastic William was, the dogs were the best part. The sweetest dogs I’ve ever seen. Attaching a picture of Pepe, who sweetly made his way closer to me as I sat waiting for my son’s haircut to be done. His super calm demeanor warmed my heart. Thank you Amplify Barber Shop Walnut Creek for such an incredible experience. We will be your loyal customers now.

I’ve been getting my haircut here since I was a baby, tho staff throughout the years have been nothing but amazing people. Even when I was a little boy shuffling around making a ruckus they would still be able to cut my hair and make me feel better than when I walked in. Not only are they amazing at what they do, they create an atmosphere that makes keep coming back! The dogs are my favorite when I come into see them they’re always so sweet and friendly, and I can always count on one of them wanting to sit next to me when I’m waiting for my haircut. Living in Walnut Creek my whole life, I can confidently say this is the best barber in the entire east bay! Please if you haven’t had a haircut in a while, or you’re new to town go to Amplify!

Alan, Joanne and William are without a doubt the best in the business. Not only do they have the most reasonably priced haircuts that I have come across in the Bay Area, but the quality of their work is the best I have ever experienced. They care about you as a person and that is felt immediately when you walk in. There is always a friendly dog to be greeted by at the door when you arrive and great conversations to follow. I have recommended many friends to get a haircut by them and they feel the same way! Alan, Joanne, and William, thank you for always delivering and for being the best around!
