I brought my son several times and every single time I bring him to Fernando he gets it right every time ! His attention to detail, and calm demeanor makes him approachable. The other barbers are okay but personally see a difference when he gets cut by Fernando! I recommend!

*****EDIT: they fired all the good barbers because they asked for better pay. I have not been back since. You can find the talented barbers I speak of in this review at “Cutz on Main” in downtown Newhall. Talented barbers, extremely reasonable prices, friendly environment! I have been a regular here for years and I always look forward to my haircuts.

Owner's response

Thank you, we love hearing from our amazing clients! We appreciate your continued support and have a wonderful Holiday!

First time coming to this barber shop and it did not disappoint. Lena was amazing. She made me feel comfortable and was able to strike up a nice conversation. I always struggle trying to find a place to cut my hair for a reasonable price and was fortunate enough to find Andy's. The haircut was a bit long but worth it considering the advice given to me in regards to my hair and the fact that she was building my "profile" too. The attention to detail was great and I couldn't have asked for a better overall haircut. She really did show her support for the troops too. Will definitely be coming back.

Lena is fantastic. I absolutely adore her. My hair is changing as i get older and I didn’t know what to do with my hair but she sure did. I just sit in the chair and she does my hair, beard, and mustache perfectly. She is very blunt and gives great advice too haha. I absolutely won’t go anywhere else. I have been to five different shops in SCV, Lena is the only one that did my hair right. The vibe of the shop is a chill family owned place, it’s not loud like other shops where they are blasting music, they usually have a movie or show playing on one TV at a regular volume. There is plenty of parking too. ***The shop is cash only but they do have an ATM!****

I paid $30 for a 'fade,' but I'm disappointed with the result. When you look at the side of my head, it appears as though a barber student cut my hair. There are clearly defined lines, and no fade was achieved. It's frustrating how some barbers charge premium prices but deliver mediocre haircuts. Lastly, what’s upsetting is that he looks at me and says, is it OK?, you as a barber know that you didn’t produce quality. This is supposed to be your bread butter. When I show up to work I give 110% and I give quality Work not mediocre work and expect to get paid.

Owner's response

David, sorry to hear about your negative experience. We strive to provide all our customers with excellent customer service. Please feel free to reach out to the owner directly.

Before I even knew Andy’s barber shop, I knew Carol from a previous shop that I use to go to just for her. From the first time that she cut my hair I saw potential and effort. She will take the time to make sure you’re satisfied, and comfortable! She is one hell of a barber that I won’t let go of! Can’t find many barbers like CAROL! ☺️

Owner's response

Thank you Sergio! I will share your kind words with Carol. We appreciate your review.😀

My first visit was a five star. A younger guy who actually took his time had cut my hair. This made me want to come back, but when I came back he was not there. So I had another older guy cut it and he was going through some personal issues that made him rush the haircut. I then came back and there was a female who messed up a simple taper. I believe she was still getting her hours in for her certification. The last and final time I will go there.

We've brought our kid here a few times since we moved to Newhall. Every time the haircut was fantastic and we especially appreciated having a locally owned place that did an artisan-style job as an option over the chain places. We went in today at 4:30 (they close at 6.) They asked if we had an appointment...we didn't (but hadn't ever had one before.) The barber saw my kids hair (which had grown a little long since the last time we had been in) and declared he doesn't do long hair. Not sure if it was just the end of the day and he didn't want to add another job, or if he just really wasn't capable of giving a scissors haircut. Either way it's the first time in my decades of going to a barber shop that they basically said they don't cut hair. Super disappointed at this waste of time and we definitely won't be back.

There was no waiting and walk-ins are welcome, unlike many of the other barbers in the area. The barber who cut my hair was very eager to please. The one issue I had was the electric clippers he used blew out air. I'm not sure if that was by design but, with a mask on, cut hair was blown into my mask, which was a bit irritating. I'm sure he had no idea. My very fine hair is difficult to cut without showing cuts after the next shampooing. The barber did a good job in that respect. Unfortunately, he didn't pay attention to how I had my hair combed when I got there. When he was finished, I was taken back to the hair style I had as a child. Easy to fix when I left but I like a barber who pays attention to such details. It seems the price of a haircut has gone up everywhere and their price of $25 seems to be the going rate.
