I always select Erasmus, he’s my dude. He always treats me like an old friend and cuts my hair exactly the way that I instruct. Talented, chill, and dependable!

People's has been my go to for several years now. Brenda specifically. She knows exactly what kind of cut I like and crushes it every time. Great conversations as well :) The shop is clean, beautifully decorated and full of dedicated people. They even offer you a fun drink when you walk in. I enjoy it so much, in fact, that I recently moved to Auburn and plan my haircuts for when I'm back in SF. Top notch.

I went into this barbershop to ask about booking a kid’s haircut for my younger brother. I was polite and explained clearly what I was looking for, including that he has type 3 textured hair and that I wanted to book with a barber experienced with that. Throughout the interaction, the receptionist seemed irritated and not attentive. I had to repeat myself multiple times about the appointment, the service, and the day I was asking for. At one point, she even asked me if I was getting a haircut — which didn’t make sense, as I’m a woman and had already explained I was there to book for a child. When she asked this, she also made a strange facial expression that felt unnecessary and unprofessional. When I left, I politely said “have a nice day,” and she did not respond at all. First impressions matter, and this interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming. Front-desk staff represent the business, and this experience turned me away from wanting to follow through with booking an appointment here.

I keep returning to this barbershop because the haircuts are great, but also because the community feeling with the patrons and staff makes for a nice overall experience. Daryus and Aimee are All Stars, you’ll be so happy if you can get an appointment with either.

I had a cut with Daryus today and I would not recommend it. He was hurting my head the whole time, gave me a cut I didn't like and was not able to fix it. Told me it was my fault because I should have walked him through it more, and even called me "careless about my hair". Never felt as insulted and disrespected at a hairdresser.

I’d give her a -100 if that were an option. Went in for a hot towel face shave. I told her approximately twelve times to KEEP THE SIDEBURNS. She proceeded to cut me multiple times, gave me one of the roughest, least close/smooth shaves of my life, and cut off my sideburns. Really shouldn’t be offering a hot towel facial shave if you are not trained, unqualified, inexperienced or otherwise incompetent to provide the service. And you’ve got to listen to what your customer wants! If they say “keep the burners” you are engaged in professional malpractice when you proceed to shane them off. Never again.

The folx at People’s Barbershop are really awesome and friendly. David G is an incredible barber. Many incredible barbers Valencia and Polk, which are the 2 locations I frequent. Thanks for the hospitality, y’all!

Came here to try it for the first time and I almost never leave a negative review but this one was surprisingly bad. I made an appointment and was a bit late (like 5 minutes my fault). When I arrived I was told the barber was out for a walk. No big deal, I was late, they wanted some sun. However, soon it was 20 minutes after the appointment started and the barber still hadn’t returned. This was a 30 minutes appointment when the barber had left for the first 20 minutes. When we started the haircut, everything seemed fine. However, we were facing the mirror the entire time. I was looking away from the mirror unable to see my hair cut. At first I thought this wasn’t a big deal because they would just ask me if they wanted to check on length or anything. Especially since we had never worked before together. But no - they just cut and I didn’t realize until way later that it was too short and uneven. When they finished, they didn’t ask offer for me to look at the back or sides. They didn’t turn me around to look at the haircut. It was uneven already but it was too short that I didn’t want it shorter so I just left. Overall - super negative experience. I’ve never had a barber not even show me the haircut or ask me how long I wanted it before they cut something. Also the fact they faced me away the whole time felt like they were just trying to hid it.

Me and my dad came here for a hot shave and it was such a chill atmosphere. Pop got free whiskey and I loaded up on water while waiting. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and knew what they were doing. It was my first straight razor shave, so I was a bit nervous, but everything went very well. Prices are on par with the service. It's great to treat yourself every so often!
