I had gone in a couple months ago. I’m currently in visitation valley and it was a commute. I found the barbers name to be complicated in spelling, so on my Facebook page I called him JESK. NADJA on what we do in the shadows calls her love interest JESk because she can’t pronounce Jeff. His name is spelled Shawfguaserw (wink) I know when I worked for George above a different light as a stylist on Castro I may have been tired or out late in the Castro. Training at 177 Post diPietro, starting the mornings off, in an off mind space, it did not happen for me. My mornings as a stylist behind the chair in Palo Alto, I didn’t have anyone in my life to give me a bad day. But I understand we are all human. Being a stylist in smaller shops, gaining that client base is ruff. In a larger shop, the adrenaline and coffee gets going the moment you walk in. Glamour shop, or a small shop where street traffic does not look appealing? Maybe is a factor. But foot traffic is a plus when I worked at Polk and Broadway as a stylist. It was just there and Polk and Broadway has a bit of boutique shopping. I still had walk in coming in to barder in Russian Hill. That’s ruff and non negotiable. I had one at Elizabeth Arden be fabulous with a phone to his ear, made me cut it shorter because it wasn’t short enough, then complained to better business bureau. I get it, if a barber is not comforatable. On Polk Russian Hill, seeing people with phones in their hands or putting them on the counter in front of the service, I’d throw a towel on the phone or a Vogue or Cosmo on the phone. I just couldn’t afford it. It seemed other barbers were smiling and a couple seemed very welcoming. I got a bit teary eyed, which is not me, because my current life circumstances has me feeling inconvenient. As Harley Quinn says on Suicide Squad “ you don’t like me, don’t waste my time then”. I was paying for a service I could not afford. As Kris Munroe says “I think this is another angry place, I should go”.

What a fantastic shop this is, right from the time I entered I was made comfortable, asked what I would like to drink. My stylist Lobo was just too good, he is definitely my chosen one

Had an amazing haircut and experience here, will definitely be coming back! Lobo was my barber, and he is such a friendly, energetic individual, but also a professional and master at his craft. He took his time (1hr 15 min) to ensure my cut was perfect (midskin fade, combover on top). I have asian hair, and this was the best cut I have had in many years; I am glad I discovered this place, and will be coming back to Lolo in the future. He also does an amazing hot towel and head massage treatment towards the end; very relaxing and almost fell asleep. They also offer complimentary drinks (sparking water, coffee, whiskey, etc), but was a bit too early for me to partake in any libations. Highly recommend this barbershop, one of the best in the City!

I'm really happy with the haircut Zack did! It had been a while since I'd had a haircut, so my hair was pretty long, but he cut it expertly into a much shorter and nicer looking style. I really appreciate the time and effort he put into it. The end result is great and I'd highly recommend Zack's services.

Myself, and 3 of my close friends all go to ShawnJit for our haircuts. I’ve been seeing him for about 5 years now, every 3 to 4 weeks. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants a fresh haircut or fade. He does it all.

Shawnjit is great. I've had a lot of different barbers that don't know how to cut my hair and Shawnjit has been amazing at executing the vision I have when I show him a photo of what I am going for. The barbershop also has a very chill atmosphere and friendly barbers all around. If you just moved to the area or if you're just looking for a new barber, I would highly recommend this place. I have been a regular for more than 2 years now.

Awesome barbershop. Been seeing Angel for my haircuts and beard trims, and he kills it every time. He pays extremely close attention to detail, and gives great suggestions on what he thinks will work best with your hair. He's also a super nice guy. Highly recommend paying him a visit.

Came to Locals for the first time and scheduled an appointment with Angel. He was professional, friendly, and knowledgable -- I showed him a few reference photos and he immediately got to work! He spent over an hour cutting my hair meticulously and asked for my feedback throughout the process. I was super happy with the end result. To top it off, the overall experience is super comfortable, as Angel offered me a complimentary drink and made friendly conversation during the session. I would definitely recommend coming to Locals for your next haircut!

Gabe is THE man. He puts his heart into his work, his shop and his life. He is a happy guy, so the entire experience is enjoyable. The COVID protocols that he has put in place, including private stalls and UV light sanitizers for their tools, go above and beyond in making the entire experience feel safe and comfortable. The shop has a well branded and 'good vibe' feel to it. Gabe has gathered several distinct vintage pieces and brought them together in a style that feels like a classic men's lounge, with each piece of the decor well representing his life as a Bay Area native. Parking is extremely easy at meters along nearby streets.
