Sprint, don’t walk, to Kinship and book Marvin. I have had exactly 3 haircuts in the last year, all have been with him, and I won’t be letting another stylist touch my hair as long as he’s in the biz. His cuts are chic, stylish, and he is so warm and wonderful to work with. My first cut with him was after a different hairdresser basically gave me a hideous pixie when I asked for a bob and Marvin was able to skillfully recover the situation as much as possible and went on to give me the bob I wanted several months later when my hair had grown back enough. Obsessed with his work and consider myself a loyal customer for life.

Loved my recent haircut by Marvin and overall experience. My appt included a shampoo, blowout, and style. Plus, he was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Highly recommend to anyone looking for great stylists and bright n airy environment. I went here once before for a shorter cut and Rae also took great care of me then. It always feels like a treat coming here!

Kinship was the first salon I went to when I moved to SF 5 years ago and I haven’t left. The salon is always very welcoming and attentive. Rae is the main hairstylist I go to. She helped me transform my hair when I wanted to try a different color and communicated the care, process, and results with me thoroughly. She is amazing!

We are so lucky to have Kinship in our neighborhood! Beautiful bright space, friendly and attentive staff, talented stylists. Shawna is really sweet and gentle and has made my kid's haircut a delightful experience we both look forward to. I've been getting haircuts with Ashley for 5+ years, both short and long, and every time I feel like a million bucks after. She is kind, thoughtful and always there to support our community.

Kinship is an outstanding Barbershop and Salon located in the heart of the Inner Richmond on Clement and 4rth. I have been getting my haircut by Renee V. for the past 10+ years and she always exceeds expectations wrt to quality, professionalism, and heartfelt connectivity. Kinship and the Inner Richmond is my ‘happy place’ in The City by The Bay. Make sure to shop locally on Clement and grab coffee (and a cookie) at Jimmy’s Danube Cafe, browse books at Green Apple, grab a burger-brat-beer at Steins, and if you are looking for an outstanding Mediterranean Restaurant, Kitchen Istanbul is the best!

Shawna is sweet and caring about my hair health! She experimented with my hair since I’ve been back from overseas-let’s just say my hair was under too many harsh and toxic chemicals that they she diligently had to use hair mask and resiliently nurtured my hair. It is slowly growing out and I do not see my hair melting into goop in the shower. My hair is in a lengthy process with Shawna because she does not rush the process. Exemplifying chemical bond integrity through lightening process and different things I can do to maintain the health of my genetic and premature grays speaks more to me than what is stated on outside a hair box product. I like her witty and sunflower personality she is always a highlight of my monthly visits. I always look forward to our nurturing conversations and what my hair will end up to be. I’m stoked I’ve walked in that early summer day and that they accepted me in a chaotic and complex hair journey, from South Asia ocean bleached, jungle and forested adventures, and formaldehyde treated hair.
