Owner's response
Hi Neo, it’s Santiago the owner at Silverlake Barbershop. Sorry you had a bad experience and I’d like to help. I saw the photo you posted but I need some context as to what you asked for and why what you got wasn’t it. I spoke to the barber who helped you and he said you signed off on the cut before you left. <br>I’d like to help so Feel free to email me at silverlakebarbershop@gmail.com so we can connect and see where things went wrong and see if we can’t make it right.

Great barbershop. Issac does the best fades. Definitely recommend going to him!

Classic no-nonsense barbershop that delivers great cuts. The vibes are impeccable - the place is clean, with good music, and lively conversation. Highly recommend Frankie!

Got an ok haircut that wasnt quite right, called back 5 days later (the barber was out two of those days) to try and fix part of it, and they told me i would have to pay for a whole other haircut. Not going back.

Update almost 3 years later: I don’t like to write negative reviews and even after getting the worst haircut of my life here I left my one star rating with no notes and kept it pushing. But I’ve honestly thought about my experience here constantly since it happened and it bums me out still to this day. I’m a gay guy who appreciates a good fade and often that means going to an old school dudes barbershop and sitting through all that experience entails. I’m used to barbers talking me up about women that I’m not interested in and I’ll quietly go along with it to be chill. I had just moved to LA and this was the first shop I tried in town. My haircut was going fine until after multiple personal questions about dating and women I finally just told my barber I was gay to avoid any more of this conversation. The vibe immediately went left and my haircut was ended less than ten minutes after this point. My dude freaked my hair all the way up quickly - made the front line super jagged and uneven, faded the back into patches, and sent me out the door with my hair fully soaked from the spray bottle. All this while going on a thinly veiled homophobic story I didn’t ask for. I wish I was exaggerating but this has literally never happened to me before in my life. It left me depressed for weeks and totally killed my confidence when I was new in town. And I still tipped 25% because I’m not a weak punk! Unlike these guys. I wish I remembered his name because I’d drop it if I could. Brethren, stay away. Not a safe space.

Brought my one year old for his first haircut. I was really impressed with the patience Santiago had with my kid. He didn't look annoyed or anything liked that. Was really happy with the results even tho my kid kept moving around. Took him a second time... Again my kid was crying and moving around, but again Santiago was just the best. He took his time with kid. Very happy with his professionalism. Here is the before and after picture

Got my hair and beard done by Manny and am super happy with the results. The shop is clean and they kept the scheduled time to the minute - all in all great experience! I'm not a native speaker, and Manny dealt so well with that and took that into consideration when he explained what haircut he thinks will be good. Will definitely go again the next time I am in LA!

It’s always, always tough finding a barber + barbershop + decent pricing, but this spot is here to solve all your problems! Everyone is the shop is talented and consistent! For the fun of it I gave a couple barbers a try; Santi, Franky, and Alex - all are great so you can’t go wrong with whoever you decided to go with! I decided to make Alex as my dedicated barber - he’s extremely good at listening to your needs + wants and to bringing your visions to life! I get a high skin fade! I’m always leaving the shop feeling confident and happy! Highly recommend to everyone and anyone - no matter the type of cut you want - they can do it!

Outstanding Job! This barbershop is to blame for the advantages and benefits I'm sporting right now. I'd like to praise their barbers on their outstanding work. The food was good, and the pricing were reasonable. The best place for hair trimming! Strongly recommended!

Highly recommend. Make the appointment online as this will be your best bet to getting a chair and a barber. Otherwise you maybe sitting on the bench outside for a long time. My barber was Santi, but I know his team are great as he only has the best barbers in this shop. It has a local feel, great music, respects social distancing and taking of temperature before you can continue with your hair cut. He is respectful of your mask and will have you keep it on while doing the cut, but will move it as he needs to make the cut right. Haircuts are $35 and worth it! Help keep this small business open. I know I will be coming back for sure.
