It’s difficult to find a barbershop in LA that’s affordable and can be consistent on the haircut you’re looking for, but this place, and specifically Trevor for me, does it. Trevor’s a solid barber with tons of experience and knowledge, really knows what he’s doing, and is a seriously awesome guy to boot. Highly recommend!

I walked in for the first time without an appointment and was immediately greeted by Greg. Extremely welcoming and friendly atmosphere here! I was able to get a cut right away, no problem. I am very, very happy with my haircut! I think it is the best I have ever had. I was beyond happy with my experience and would highly recommend the spot to anyone. Will definitely be back again!

Trevor is the GOAT! I’ve been searching for a solid barber in Hollywood who doesn’t charge an ungodly amount for over a year, and I’ve finally found him. I went in for my first haircut today, and Trevor was incredibly friendly and personable. He gave me multiple tips on how to maintain my hair and he really took the time to tailor the cut to what I like and what suits me best. I’ll definitely be back!

I started going to Trevor for a men’s haircut in June 2025 and have stuck with him for his highly personalized haircuts and the friendly vibe of the shop. His expert knowledge shines through when he initially helps you select a hairstyle, as he thoroughly assesses the look you want and how that pairs with your particular hair type. He’s also efficient and keeps the vibe chill, with lots of funny stories. He really gets to know you and it’s always a pleasure to come back for a haircut. Some of the other workers have cut my hair as well, and they also are friendly and do an outstanding job. Would highly recommend this shop!

I have been to countless barbers' shops in my life, and it is stressful to find someone new, then trust them with your hair. I need three things from a barber: the cut, the booking, and the environment. My experience at Modern Rebel is always relaxing, hassle-free, and I walk out looking great. 1st is the cut, of course. Greg Mendez at Modern Rebel consistently nails it. My straight, fine hair is a pain to cut, but Greg is detailed, thorough, and confident. I've loved my cut every time. I can also say that he is the only barber in my life that I like how he styles my hair. Every other barber has done their best, but when I would get outside, I’d mess it up and redo it. I don’t do that with my haircuts anymore. 2nd is booking an appointment. It needs to be hassle-free with options. No problem. I text Greg; he quickly replies with options, and then he adds the time I choose to some software that texts the appointment info along with reminders. It’s simple, painless, and easy to book and modify. 3rd is the place and people. Your experience should be relaxing, and Greg is a champ. He’s chill and easy to talk with about all sorts of stuff, plus he’s an LA native, which is always interesting. Also, Greg is a positive person, but not in a creepy cultish or religious way. He’s also creative, and 💯 open-minded. The shop is clean, modern, and stylish, with good lighting; it smells nice, and the chairs are comfortable. It is also easy to get to, and parking is free and plentiful. Welcome to your new favorite barber.

I’ve been looking for a great barber since moving to Los Angeles and Greg is the one who finally got it right. He gives a clean cut every time. I’ve tried a bunch of barbers in the area and he’s easily the best. His mid skin fades always look sharp. I seriously get more compliments after he cuts my hair than I ever have and I always walk out feeling amazing. If you’re looking for a good barber in the area, Greg is your guy!!

Greg is truly the best barber in Hollywood. He consistently goes above and beyond to accommodate my schedule, and he works efficiently without ever compromising on quality. Every appointment feels easy and comfortable! He’s incredibly respectful and creates an atmosphere where you can just relax and trust you’re in great hands. Beyond being a talented barber, Greg has a genuinely kind personality. He’s thoughtful, friendly, and an amazing LGBT ally, which means so much. Got a trim by Greg who was really professional and chill. I was just visiting from out of town. As a hairstylist from the Bay Area it was important to find a shop with some talent to have a level of trust while getting a cut on vacation and this place didn't disappoint. The hot towel for the neck shave was really nice too along with the range of really cool hair products and complementary beverages. You just can't go wrong here. Ultimately, I fixate on good haircuts and overall being listened to, and that was the best part for me at this shop.
